Good location, nice people at the 24h reception. Rooms were quite clean but really in need of maintenance. The bathroom was clean but mould was embedded everywhere around the shower and tiles and the shower head sprayed water everywhere. The towel had marks on it. The window didn't provide adequate sound insulation, the noise from the street could be well heard. All furniture, shelves and decorations are in a still functional but degrading condition. The rest of the hotel is in grave need for maintenance, the carpets and walls are in a horrible state, torn and badly stained. Overall not horrible value for money for London standards but the hotel could be hugely improved with some work.

The bedroom was nice other than the curtain being off on a few clips meaning light was coming in. The bathroom wasn't really up to scratch but it was enough for just our short overnight stay 12am until 7am. The bed was comfortable. The noise from the bar next door/underneath could be heard in the room as could the doors shutting in the other rooms. The front of house staff were very friendly. In summary it was ok for us staying overnight after a gig but I probably would not consider it for a longer stay.

Good staff. Clean room, comfortable bed. Excellent value for the area. Quite noisy from Caledonian Rd, but it's quiet enough to sleep. Shower didn't run hot but was fixed. Had banging pipes (like hot vs cold pipe expansion) in the night, would probably be much harder to fix.

Rooms were small, bathrooms were not very clean. Staff were lovely though. As for its position next to Pentoville prison, this was the worst part due to the usual alarms that would ring out. On sat morning this happened at 530 then continued until 630. Shortly after that maintenance work begun so sleep was minimal. Nice and cheap but less than basic in facility and food.

Very nice staff. The breakfast buffet could be have more to offer, more greens and more options. We stayed at the first floor, we could hear the door slamming everytime someone entered the corridor. In general, good hotel but could be better.

The room and bed were quite good, and bathroom as well. The place is really aging poorly, though. An updated entrance and refinished stairwells would be a good start. The trip to your room is reminiscent of a 19th century firetrap.

Room was nicely decorated however we had no shampoo or hairdryer in the room and had to go down to reception to sort out which they gladly did. The next day we had no milk to make a drink. The room had no phone to ring reception and bearing in mind it has no lift and many steep staircases with threadbare carpet we couldn't be bothered with another trip to reception. The breakfast is very basic. No croissants which would have been nice. Biscuits for breakfast was a bit strange. All staff were lovely and helpful.

ONLY USE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY!

Unfortunately other hotels were all booked some how but this hotel had rooms available which was a life saver.

Somehow they took cash, unless their card machine was out of order. The entrance window is visibly damaged, hall way towards the rooms and floors have visible damages.

Our room in floor 3 was ok, NO shampoo or shower/bathing soap! We had to use hand soap to wash in shower, terrible! Shower was ok, quite small, condition of toilet/bathroom was okish.
Our room was fine, bed was OK.
Coffee and tea set was already prepared, we should have even checked expiry date on those products just in case, but we never used them.

Breakfast was provided. Cereals, veggies, bread, butter, jam, yoghurt, cheese, ham.
No bacon, no egg if I recall. Juices like water, apple, orange were provided along with coffee and milk. Food area was located lower ground floor which was nice, also having a toilet there for conveniences.

Overall, the price was not good for this kind of service. The receptionist Levell I believe her name was, was actually very very nice, she supplied us 2 bottles of water when we asked.
Price of our room was meant to be £110, however we worked it out and negotiated for £95.

Hotel is next to a jail, and you can find at least 2-3 free parking spaces if it's available.

Personally I would give this a 2 star review but because the hotel needs money to improve the service, I have it a 3 star, and the receptionist Levell's customer service was good.
That is why I said, only use this hotel in case of emergency!
