We had a great experience! We got there and found a friendly staff; the receptionist even helped us book our trip to Stonehenge. The rooms were big, clean, and cozy. They offered us two complimentary drinks, where we met Luke. He introduced us to local beers and places to go in the area- Thank you, Luke!
We are looking forward to going back soon.

This hotel staff are excellent. Everyone I dealt with couldn't have done more for me and their patience and kindness with difficult (other!) people was incredible.
There are no lifts and as with any hotel made up of several interconnected old buildings the corridors are long and include steps and fire doors. That is only to be expected and is part of their charm.
The rooms and public areas are full of light and feel surprisingly modem.
My single room was small (as is often the case I find) but it was lovely to see the ancient(?) roof beams in this lovely old building.

What a delightful small hotel. Very clean and smelt lovely. Comfortable bed. Lovely receptionist welcome. Can do attitude.
Unfortunately the breakfast was disappointing. Very average. Soggy hash browns, sausages and bacon were cooked but colourless. Mushrooms were deep fat fried and tasteless. I asking if they would replenish , I was told we are the last customers. (There was still an hour left to breakfast) it’s also advertised as eat as much as you like ! On stating my annoyance everyone couldn’t do enough to help. As it’s the only meal served at this lovely hotel it’s a shame not to step that area up and staff should not be having full blown conversations and at a high volume as we were sitting right by the kitchen with the door open . I’m giving this feedback as it’s all things that can be rectified as not to spoil the image of this tastefully decorated lovely clean welcome hotel,

This hotel is superb. Our experience was wonderful from start to finish.
On arrival we weren't able to park free behind the hotel, but about a 5 minute walk away there is a multi storey carpark that is very reasonably priced and secure.
The hotel receptionist was very hospitable and gave us clear information and told us that when the bar opened we were given a complimentary drink.
Our room was lovely, very clean with complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a chocolate each. The bathroom had a powerful shower and bath with bath mat if required. Shower gel, shampoo and hand soap included.
There was an ironing board, iron and hairdryer if needed and hangers in open wardrobe.
The bed was so comfy and we had a good night's sleep with the help of the air-conditioning.
The bar staff I think who's name was Lou was lovely and very helpful and chatty.
The breakfast was great with the choice of eggs cooked to order, lovely bacon, sausages, black pudding, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and baked beans. There was also pastries or cereal and yoghurts. Bread to toast and condiments. Unlimited filter coffee or tea.
The check-in and check out went smoothly too. We will definitely be returning.

Really nice, clean hotel close the the central. We had a classic king room for two nights. The room size was ok. Bathroom was much bigger than usual. The bed was a bit small, that looked just a normal double. The mattress was comfortable anyway. Staff is exceptional, everyone was helpful and kind!
The welcome drink is a kind gesture from the hotel, we had a pint at the bar. I really appreciated it!
We tried the breakfast one day, but it was just average for me.
Recommeded!

We were really chuffed with The Merchant's House. Before our wedding in the area, we recommended the hotel to our guests and it did not disappoint. Clean, modern but classic, great food and really nice service. I couldn't fault them, and personally really enjoyed staying in the Alfred Bowley Room.

A special thank you to "Aga". She was an absolute dream and really went above and beyond in helping us make things comfortable for our guests. Thank you so much, you really helped us to relax and enjoy ourselves!

The accommodations were just right for me as a single traveler. Everything thing was very n at and clean. The room had a single bed, a desk/chair, closet, ironing board, water, coffee, tv, full bathroom. I’m not particularly bothered but the morning can be slightly loud as people get up. The breakfast option is nice - the food is good and the cook was very attentive! Aside from the accommodation, it’s close to many of the tourist sites in Salisbury. Also within walking distance are many shops/restaurants. Wish I was staying longer. 😊

Hotel is very comfortable and clean.
Bathroom needs to be safer for us all with a
hand rail in the shower and hook on door.
Thanks for the complimentary drink on arrival at 5pm.
Breakfast is excellent.
Parking close by and ok.
