Enjoyed 1 night stop but quirky room though large with round bed, open bath, open hangers (no cupboard/drawers) and ye olde rafters and windows that are jammed open would have not suited a longer stay. Darwin restaurant offers decent pub menu, there may be better choices within walking distance. That said, well stocked and pleasant service. Well located for visiting Cathedral and town. Private car park £5.

The hotel is dated. My room was small & stuffy with a stained bathroom floor, broken window & wonky cupboard. The heat was massively uncomfortable & it took 2 staff members to come up with the suggestion of using a book to prop the window open. This didn't work (shocker) & so I ended up finding my own solution.

But warning! The bed is next to the window & the staff use this fire exit & the courtyard underneath as their space so expect noise & very little privacy.
I complained & was told "well you'd have been fine if we didn't have the hot weather".

I'd suggest you spend a little bit more & go somewhere else. Though maybe they look after their couples, families or those who are spending more? Just any old nobody is just put in a hot, stained glorified cupboard & expected to just deal with it.

Also, to confirm, the parking IS NOT FREE unless you book directly with them. Money making scheme 👍

Don't sleep in either, because the cleaning team will be round trying to clear your room before check out.

They ask you to only review the room if you were happy or if not, email the manager. I did and as I say, hot weather is the only reason apparently. Nothing to do with inconsideration.

Very enjoyable bar meal experience this afternoon. The service was polite and friendly and the food thoroughly enjoyable. Considering the price of food has gone up in recent times, we felt the menu offered good value compared to other places we’ve been to.
Thanks for creating happy memories for us.

A comfortable place with very welcoming staff who really make the place . The rooms vary but are comfortable. The food is excellent good reasonable prices. An excellent no nonsense hotel 👌

This was a 1st visit. Our room was lovely and very clean. Our meal was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely individual areas to sit with a drink. The only negative to this Hotel is parking, which is a lottery whether you will park or not! This makes the stay there very stressful if you need to leave your space to travel somewhere. Great Hotel to stay in if you are visiting Lichfield, lots of lovely shops within walking distance.

Only used the restaurant for Sunday carvery. Food is plentiful and good quality, although no Cauliflower cheese even though still an hour to closing! Parsnips seriously large, half the plate! I needed someone to carvery and had to ask for chef, he appeared and decided to hold each of the meat joints with his hand rather than a carving fork! I'm easy going so, whilst not right, I rolled with it. My wife and friends were aghast! Still, no ill effects! Waitress service poor. The coffee was good and served in large ceramic pots.

We didn't stay in the rooms, just popped in for a bite at lunchtime. Food was lovely and fresh and tasty. We had mushroom soup, steak sandwich with fries and nachos, absolutely delicious. We've been before and had sandwiches, which were also 10/10. Lovely atmosphere as well, nice and warm on a cold day, very clean and well decorated.

Good experience. Comfortable, large room and nice breakfast. It’s an older, traditional hotel so a bit more quirky than a box chain. Convenient for the town center. There is limited parking plus a larger public car park at the rear, which was safe and adequate for us.
