Superb, elegant house and setting, attractive grounds to walk around, rooms nicely furnished and comfortable, staff consistently efficient and friendly. I was there for a classic car club week-end and it was a great venue for such a meeting. But the buffet on Friday was unimaginative and the overall quality of the meal fair at best. The dinner on Saturday was better but not great. A private a la carte dinner on Sunday was good. The wine list was also good.
Overall, this is a great place to spend a few days in the country, but the food needs work to bring it up to the same very high standard as everything else.

I have been staying at Hiltlesham once a month for the past two years , love all the rooms , each room all different. The food always excellent and breakfast as well. The ground and big trees make the scenery look amazing. I never try the spa yet so I don’t know how good it is. Service and all the staff are very very good.

When we arrived, was asked to pay for room straight away. I've never had that in a hotel, always paid at check out.

Staff not very friendly, a smile doesn't cost anything.

The worst experience was the meal, very strange combinations. The cost was ridiculous for very mediocre food.

I've stayed here before in the past with great experiences, but it's really gone downhill.

Wouldn't return, such a shame because location is beautiful

Really enjoyed our one night here, lovely building and nice big room but armchairs as well as excellent bed. Working out the shower controls did not require a PhD in water engineering, which was a blessed relief.
Breakfast was served to the table, liked that! And the quality of the bacon etc was very good. Cannot comment on the dinner service as ate out. But nice place!

We really did enjoy our two night stay. The restaurant was excellent, and we particularly liked the lounge areas with first class comfortable seating. Our room was large and well equipped, but we did find the bed a little too hard, and if we had been staying longer we would have had to ask for a mattress topper. Both the chairs in our room had spoiled armrests and were slightly frayed - that was disappointing. The bathroom was large and had both a walk in shower and bath. I was not too fussed about the 12.5% service charge that was added to our restaurant bill. How much I tip is up to me - not you. I appreciate it was discretionary and I was annoyed - and so I had it removed. Overall a very pleasant stay but if we come again a mattress topper is a must.

The buildings, has a sense of age that we both appreciated, with attractive and very comfortable furnishing and decoration throughput. We received a a friendly and courteous welcome and as our stay progressed, as realised that every individual member of staff we met would be significantly above average for any establishment. This combined with the excellent food, and the wonderful grounds meant we absolutely loved our stay,.

Stayed just the one night, evening meal with our Morgan car club.
Hotel is lovely, all areas tastefully decorated. Had a nice festive feel about it.
Room beautifully furnished, everything you need and tasteful.
Lovely dinner and breakfast served by friendly/professional staff.
Could not find fault with anything, will be back.

We stayed here on Saturday 3rd December and had an amazing time. We visited with friends for a meal and rooms for the night. There was a very refined feel to the whole experience like we expected there would be. The room was amazing, a lovely big bed, large bath, dressing table and excellent tea and coffee facilities with homemade shortbread as well.
When we arrived for dinner we were met with a glass of prosecco and a table in the library before being called for dinner.
The food was exquisite from start to finish. The music was also very good. There is only one criticism for the whole evening and that was the tiny little bar in the library for all the guests of the night. It seemed quite surreal that this was the bar for the night and was very busy when queuing for a drink. Which was very unexpected for the venue to be honest.

The next morning the breakfast was excellent, we ordered poached eggs to go with the rest of our hot food. All of the food was delicious, the coffee was great and the toast and jam was lovely.

All in all the whole experience was great and would love to go again.
