Booked to stay at Butley Barns 4 months in advance via HomeAway and paid in full. Owner cancelled my booking last minute in favour of another customer who was booking more nights than me. Used the excuse that HomeAway had double booked but HomeAway confirmed this was not the case. Ruined my husbands 40th birthday. Do not book this accommodation.

Despite a lovely building it is all rather tired and could do with an update and thorough clean. Disappointing considering the cost,lots of irritating small things.

Could be an outstanding place to stay but needs a good clean and more attention to detail! Yes it's a barn but there were cobwebs and dirt everywhere. Welcome hamper - most of the items were out of date by up to 6 months. The advertised welcome hamper for the dog was nowhere to be seen. One of the toilets had to be cleaned before we used it. At least 4 of the bathroom sinks were cracked, one so badly we couldn't use it as the floor flooded when we turned the tap on. When we mopped it up with toilet roll, as that was all we could find, it was clear that the floor had not been cleaned for months. There was no soap in the bathrooms. There were no tea towels so we had to use a bath towel to dry dishes and no oven gloves. Most of the crockery and cutlery had to be washed before we used it as previous tenants had put it away without cleaning it properly. The dishwashers weren't very good either. There was no kitchen roll or cleaning cloth for wiping the sides down. Neither of the bbq's had been cleaned or emptied of ash so we had to do that before we used them and there was no charcoal even though it had been promised. I wont tell you what the owners response was when we asked her where it was! Apart from that it was a great size place for a large family reunion etc but no we wont be going there again

DO NOT BOOK. Organised to have our wedding reception at the location, but cancelled a few months before our wedding date. Had insisted on site visits from suppliers and then didn’t fit the bill for money we lost from their cancellation.

An absolutely beauty sacred stay with an incredibly accommodating staff. Theres something about this space that is incredibly sacred and I cannot wait to stay again!
