Popped in for a couple of drinks and some food last night, what a lovely little place!
Amazing atmosphere, brilliantly polite and funny staff, quirky environment and a relaxed courtyard area! Definitely the best pub I’ve been to for absolutely ages! Keep up the good work !

Visited in Aug 2022. We did not stay at the hotel so cannot comment on the accommodation side of things. We had dinner in the pub downstairs. It was superb. I had a steak in ale pie and my son had meatballs with pasta. Both dishes looked homemade (perfectly imperfect, if that makes sense) and were delicious. Reasonably priced and good quality grub.

We visited today, Sunday 21st Aug and my husband and I both had Sunday roast (beef) which was excellent!
Very nicely presented, just the right portion and it really was delicious.
Very good value for money.
The staff was very friendly, we would definitely go back again.

Stayed here one night on a walking holiday. Castleton is touristy in a very fun way, but the hotel is a little ways away from the main bits, which made it a bit quieter at night in a good way. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating-- they helped with an early checkout and a quick dinner reservation. The hotel is just a few rooms over the pub, so might get noisy on a busy night. The room itself was very large and had an extremely comfortable bed and two chairs. Although a couple windows didn't open, there was a ceiling fan (much appreciated on a hot night). Had a lovely stay and would come back in a heartbeat.

Went for a meal and drinks. The decor is very eclectic but all fits together somehow. The food is slightly pricey but in today's market it is not unusually so. It's worth paying for as the food is absolutely lovely. I had one of the burgers and I would highly recommend it. There is a good selection of beers on tap as well.

Stopped for drinks, the pub inside was full of random stuff, which like other reviews on here, I agree. Most of it worked well together. We enjoyed some of the games over a few pints, again couldn't fault. Down side, we ordered a side of chunky chips & a portion of whitebait to put us on, the food other people had looked nice, ours came & it was not. French fries & a few anemic tiddlywinks. We questioned the girl who served us, to get a reply of that's how it is, I can change them if you like, but it will be the same. £6 each dish! We drank up & left

Lovely hotel located within a charming pub. Easy car park located across the street.
Upon arrival to the pub we were greeted by the bar's waitstaff. With our first drinks in hand we were shown to our room. The room was comfortable and roomy.

We were offered a chance to book a table for the evening when we checked in. We enjoyed dinner and drinks in the pub and everything was delicious. This pub is dog friendly.

We did not notice much noise from the pub downstairs or traffic from the road just outside our window.

Since the hotel does not offer a breakfast, we took the recommendation from staff to enjoy breakfast at Tilly's, just a short walk into town. It was delish!

Lovely pub with a good selection of beers. We called in for a bite to eat midweek. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the food. Can only be described as poor. In this day and age where pub grub is upping its game, this pub hasn't. We ordered off the specials board. A specials burger and a lasagne. Both well below parr. A real shame because everything else is good.
