The Angel Hotel

We visited for a birthday meal and the Angel team had a birthday card waiting on the table which was a really nice gesture.

A great selection of interesting cocktails, we also requested an off menu drink which they kindly obliged.

The food was to a very high standard, really tasty!

I recommend calling and booking a table by the window.

If you are staying at the hotel then this is a fantastic location, you couldn't be better located. You have the abbey gardens opposite and the main town behind. Everything is in walking distance.

Right in the centre of Bury St Edmunds. Pleasant room at the back of the building overlooking the car park. Despite the narrow streets very quiet. Room of good size with all facilities working. Bed very comfortable & decor fine. Service for breakfast & other meals excellent - nothing too much trouble. Meals pleasantly presented. Staff very helpful & obliging. A very enjoyable stay.

Beautiful hotel in historic town of huge importance, Bury St Edmonds. Impeccable service from delightful Staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble.
Rooms immaculate, but obviously varied due to age of the building.
Food exquisitely cooked and presented. I highly recommend the Angel for a relaxing and luxurious break.

Although we didn't stay at the Angel, today we had a birthday lunch there, and I will thoroughly recommend it. The food was excellent, the customer service was exceptional, whilst not being overbearing. The ambiance was perfect, and whilst it isn't cheap, it is a lovely treat.

I stayed here for my wedding, and many of our guests did too. The front of the hotel is stunning during Autumn because of the red leave facade, and it makes for such a welcoming and warm entrance into the beautiful hotel.

The team was very helpful, attentive and went above and beyond throughout our stay and when we were planning. We had a block of 10 rooms, we booked a the private Vaults room in the cellar for wedding drinks on the Friday, and additionally a private dining room for my bridal breakfast. It was simply perfect.

Both myself and my husband had entourages in separate suites the days of the wedding to get ready, and the hotel sent up glasses for champagne and pastries to keep us all going!

Would highly recommend as a fantastic hotel to go to in the Bury St Edmunds area, especially with their free parking, room service and porter service which just made everything smooth and easy.

Booked for a family 40th birthday, we had a private room for the whole evening, Chris our staff member was amazing, so attentive, polite and helpful, he really made the evening special.

Food was fantastic and we all had a wonderful evening.

Children's menu was really good value.

Mixed experience for us.
The ground floor of the hotel, bar and restaurant are lovely and the building itself looks magnificent. The food was second to none and we had a wonderful meal and breakfast.

But our room (105) was nothing like the website and fell well below expectations, dated (but not retro) warn and dingy carpet but worse of all the bathroom ! peeling paint, mouldy cracked grout, dirty floor. They did a deep clean, but that really made no difference.
We will certainly visit Bury St Edmonds again and east at the Angel, but will find somewhere else to stay.

Stayed for two nights with a wedding party, the moment I drove in a lovely man parked my car for me and took my bags to reception and got me checked in, he was attentive and friendly as were all the staff. The food was wonderful both breakfast and supper ordered to my room. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel.
