The Bessemer Hotel

We only stayed here for one night to break up the long drive, with a reservation booked. Despite only giving 3 stars, there isn't much to complain about. However, there isn't much to sing about either. The room was fine, I did get a The Shining vibe while walking there though.... The shower was awful, hot but no power behind it and the floor was soaked because the curtain was clearly drunk and couldn't do its job properly. Free WiFi = awesome.
We go to the bar for a drink, but are standing around for about 10 minutes because there's no staff around and when they did come, they weren't apologetic, just demanded our order.
The restaurant, clearly very popular and the food was 3 stars worthy, chicken was overcooked but drenched with BBQ sauce, totally fine. The chips cooked to perfection. We saw the dessert menu and the ice creams looked amazing! So we went for it. Such a disappointment, the real thing is nothing like the picture, so don't be fooled!!
Good for a quick place to stay and would use again for a night's visit (but haven't looked around the area for anything better either) Good luck.

The staff were lovely but unfortunately was not given enough meat on the "all you can eat" carvery. Nowhere on the menu was it stipulated that you only get two slices of meat maximum leaving you feeling short-changed on what was supposed to be be lovely filling meal. Had they given enough meat in the first place, there would not be a problem. The food itself was nice but menu was very misleading when it came to the carvery option (see attached), so will unfortunately have to take it up with Trading Standards as no resolution was even attempted by the management.

Booked in for 3nights, only stayed 2. The bed sheets had holes in them and didn't fit the bed. The beds need replacing in room 215. The extraction fan doesn't switch off if the card is in the light switch. The food lovely. The young lady that did breakfast on the 24th August is amazing couldn't do enough for you.
Sat in the bar area on the first night, the Manager Janey I think her name was. Talking about other members of Staff. Not professional. I won't be staying again.

Lovely hotel, need bit up dating in there bedrooms, everything u want in there though, TV was pain, as couldn't get picture, spoilt it a bit, All staff was lovely, lovely food, view 🪟 from bedroom was not great, did enjoy the stay over night was £65 for the night

Staff were very friendly and helpful, food was amazing the rooms were a little dated but for the price you pay it was adequate, we stayed for two nights and enjoyed our time there and couldn't thank staff enough

Arriving at 01.30 I was passed my room card with no instruction to my room until I asked, once inside room 108 I was greeted with blood on the under sheet & pillows that I wouldn't put in a dog cage.

Having mentioned this I was swapped to room 115 to which I think was paint on the pillow case & the bed sheets covered in dust.

I opted for a 3 & half hour drive home.

Large, clean, warm, comfortable rooms. Service was excellent with staff going the extra mile to ensure the vegan guest was catered for. Excellent value for money and near to Cardiff and the countryside

I have stayed there a lot over the years staff are brilliant but Last couple of times bed was dreadful spring coming through mattress then this weekend mattress so hard pillows flat and dreadful I had to bleed rad to get it warm and it was very very cold I had to put bedspread on bed to get any sleep breakfast was lovely but room not good and dreadful when they have music
