The Traxx Hotel

Friendly lady on desk. Bed was pretty uncomfortable and my shower wouldn't get hot. I was allowed to use another rooms bathroom when I arrived, I would of liked to of use it again in the morning before leaving but there was no one around. Cheap price so shouldn't of expected more.

Stayed there for 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and the room was clean looking but could use a refurbishment; the wallpaper was peeling off and there was a giant crack on the ceiling that made me worried that it would fall on us while we slept.
My main issues:
- there is WiFi in the hotel but we didn't have signal in the room so we couldn't use it
- shower is small, I kept hitting the wall with my elbows and I'm average size
- walls are really thin; you can easily hear people in the surrounding rooms and on the corridor. We were woken up at 5 am and 7 am both mornings by people talking and walking down the corridor

To sum up, it's an ok place to stay if u don't have better options but I wouldn't pay the same amount for it again.

Rooms are fine and perfectly fit for purpose and no more than you would expect for the price. Attached pub was quiet and closed early (Saturday). Landlady friendly and accommodating and served a great Breakfast (Full Welsh & Vegi)

Stayed here when it was the Waverley and was undergoing maintenance at the time so needed to return to do a fair review. It's had a lovely revamp. The rooms were clean. Bathrooms nice and modern. I cannot speak more highly of the general manager Wendy. She is absolutely wonderful. Fantastic in her role. Very friendly and always on hand for any issues. Will return when next in the area. Thank you.

Booked the function area for a First aid course and the staff were great. Highly recommend spot for courses etc. commutable via trains and busses. Management helped ease the stress of organising such an event.

The two rooms I’ve stayed in were clean and comfortable. Slept really well. Loads of hot water. Superb shower. Décor maybe a little tired in places but Ididnt go to inspect the wallpapers!!
It’s not easy to run an independent hotel in the current financial climate but the very friendly owner Wendy works hard to make this place as good as it can be. Her breakfasts are spot on and far better than you’ll be served in any “chain” hotel and half the price.
I’ll be back !

In the room there was only enough space to squeeze around the double bed, and the bathroom was across the corridor. It's more like a hostel than a hotel but even in hostels I've never seen a bathroom as hazardous and gross as this one. The bathroom wasn't so much a bathroom as a space for growing black mould under the peeling stained soggy lino flooring. Any time you take a shower you have to go to extreme lengths to try and stop water running through the broken shower door or pray to God the unavoidable flooding doesn't leak through the floor this time.
There was also a bar with loud music under the room we stayed in which meant we couldn't get the early night we wanted for the early start the next day. It seemed like we could hear everything in the hotel at all times. The whole place was really run down.
Receptionists were nice tho

This hotel is in a great location but a very short and disappointing stay. Staff member was very helpful and informative on arrival however the room was very disappointing. Very outdated and in quite a state of disrepair. Paint peeling off the walls and litter in the drawers. Furniture very cheap, broken and out of place. No supplies in the bathroom except for a tiny little bar of soap to wash with. Not at all acceptable for the price we paid. Our room was situated above the beer garden and lots of drunken customers shouting and making noise. The hotel seemed to have a party on at the bar with loud music with no regard for its hotel guests. We experienced some hurtful and discriminatory comments directed at us on arrival from the bar patrons and overheard some from our room. Unfortunately we left very quickly not feeling safe to stay at this hotel. Staff were helpful and apologetic and handled the situation professionally.
