I and my husband are locals and occasionally go to Anglesey arms to have some dinner. We've noticed recently that the quality of food and service dropped. I ordered a vanilla cake and was served some waitrose like chocolate leftovers cheesecake? Then the other time ordered some brownie (I wish I could attach pictures, it looked like a mess with a half spoon of almost melted ice-cream on top). We love their pies, but the portion sizes were cut drastically even though the prices increased, so instead of a whole pie (as it says on the menu), we got a slice of pie. Where are the calories on the menu? They are gone too. Last week they didn't even have gas to cook. Unfortunately, they didn't tell us straight away, but waited until we ordered drinks).
Overall, satisfactory experience. Too expensive for this quality

We can only give a review on our experience which sadly was not very good.
See pictures taken during our stay.
This will be a long review but in brief, staff very good but let down by very poor breakfast and cooking standards, rooms in desperate need of re decorating.
Our double room was bigger than our daughters family room which appeared to have had a single bed squeezed into the room.
Clearly pictures on the hotels website are from years ago, very misleading.
The rooms were not very clean and even had torn wallpaper.
The bathroom was in a state of disrepair and the shower screen clearly had been leaking for sometime.
We had the full english breakfast which had mushrooms which were inedible and the veggie patty was dry and very overcooked. The scrambled egg was watery and grey.
We heard other guest complaining also regarding inedible food.
Unsurprisingly the second morning everyone was having a continental breakfast.
We had a evening meal the day of our arrival.
The risotto had crispy rice ( uncooked), the salmon was overdone, the steak pie was portioned sometime before being reheated or kept hot which resulted in it being very dry and burnt.
The waitress could not have been more attentive and it appeared she was aware of the problems but clearly she is in a no win situation.
THE MANAGER, and OWNERS , need to invest in the rooms and hallways.
The chef needs more support or replacing.
The hotel itself is in a good location with large grounds and car park.
In conclusion we would not return or recommend this hotel.

We booked for food for my mums birthday. No parking available. We were shown to our table with no problems.
Our orders were taken. Drinks arrived. Starters arrived after a while. Very small portions and over priced but not bad tasting.
Things then went down hill…
We waited about 75 mins for the main courses of 2x lamb shanks and a pork dish. No explanation was given for the delay just an apology, I presume they had forgotten our order!
We might as well have gone to Wetherspoon’s as the food was on a par with this and very overpriced for what it was. My wife sent hers back while 2 of us ate ours. The food was edible but very mediocre and nothing at all special. The manager did give a staff discount and took a lamb shank and the wine off the bill, although we felt we shouldn’t have been charged at all for the service and food we received.
I’ve been to the Anglesey arms many times before but this is the worst food and service I have ever received.
Overall a very disappointing dining experience and won’t be returning for a meal again, will visit other local pubs/restaurants instead.

We had the worst lunch we have ever had on Anglesey !! Having met up with a very special friend she took us here for lunch. We ordered 1 large and 1 small fish and chips plus one special fish pie. We waited and waited for ages and had eventually to ask where our order was, finally it arrived, the fish was hidden in the largest portion of overcooked batter, the small size had just 2 forkful of fish and slightly more for the large one. We did complaint and the staff were so apologetic, they knew it wasn't good! Obviously we didn't get charged but we left still hungry, it was too late to stay ..... as local people it is sad that this establishment is serving such poor food. ... so much for supporting local business

Stayed here on the way back from Ireland on new year's eve. The room was compact but decorated to a high standard and was clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was OK, but not great. The service was excellent however and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

My Mum, Sister and Niece enjoyed a lovely meal here, for my Mum's birthday. Sadly I couldn't be there so I messaged the staff to ask if someone would deliver hugs from me to my Mum, Sister and Niece. Amazingly, a lovely waiter called Matt (aka Fluffy ☺️) delivered my hugs and birthday message. How lovely! Thank you ❤️

Great hotel. Clean rooms, friendly, helpful staff, good food, and ideally located as a base for getting around the island, the beaches, coastal walks and local attractions. Directly off the Menai bridge, it is very easy to get back onto the mainland for lots more visitor attractions. Would definitely stay again when back in the area.

A very traditional pub, friendly staff and awesome burgers! Room was far enough away from the pub lounge couldn't hear the noise of the Christmas parties. Very comfortable beds, great shower, pets allowed! Highly recommended
