Had a pleasant weekend stay here with family. The reception area was very modern and well thought out, a great place to just pass time relaxing with a glass of something nice. Children were well catered for with toys and board games in the lounge. Also in the lounge area we're laptop ports and screens at a row of specially made desks...all in all a brilliant atmosphere for relaxation. Very impressed with the beds, in a twin room you get two double beds and the room was adequately sized so as not to feel cramped...only downside I felt was the the tiredness of the decor in the room and in the bathroom, upgrading definitely needed. The hotel has a small swimming pool which is old and rather tired but made a nice interlude on a very hot day, it doesn't take many for it to be filled. All in all a nice hotel, I would be happy to stay there again.

I was here for 6 days due to work and it did feel like a home from home. The bedroom was really comfortable as my room, an executive room, was quite large with a king bed, a sofa, a small table and a desk which made relaxing at the end of the day really easy. As the room was on the ground floor it was also easily accessible with no need to use the lift or stairs. Breakfast was great with a great selection of hot food, as well as toast, cereals etc, but my only complaint was that there was only one coffee machine and toaster, which slowed things down when it was busy. The restaurant in the evening had a good selection of food, which was tasty and I can really recommend the mushroom risotto. Without exception I found all staff to be very helpful and cheerful, which made my stay even better. Even the car park at the hotel was great as it was a good size and I never struggled for a parking space.

The rooms are nice and so is the reception area. But the rest looks very dated.
There were loads of personal notes from the cleaner and kitchen staff which was a really nice touch. Went downhill when the pie was microwaved. Couldn't break into it without great effort. Felt cheated by the price and the quality.
The most shocking thing is the lack of public transport even though there are advertised services. Best to drive into hotel. Parking is plentiful. Hotel has good deals. For food you need to head into town or get a deliveroo

We recently had our wedding reception at the Holiday Inn Newport (the Coldra). I cant praise the staff and venue enough. Loads of our guests praised the food, the service was exceptional and we loved it. Our bestman also thought the staff were excellent, going out of their way to help him set up some last minute surprises. We'll loved our Special Day and would definitely recommend

I stay at this hotel whenever I am in the area. It is spacious with a modern feel to the lobby and restaurant areas. The staff have always been friendly and always there to help whatever time of day.

The meeting room facilities are of a high standard and offer enough light and seating for any size of conference.

Food is varied and not too similar to a pubs menu but different enough that it feels like a better quality menu. The food itself has always been of a higher standard than pub grub.

We stayed at this hotel over Christmas, when it was quiet. It was good to have ground floor rooms as my friend has a disability. Rooms were large with a settee. A dressing gown and mule slippers were provided. We didn’t have food or drink other than beverages in our rooms. Beds were comfortable and the shower over the bath good.

We were pleased that the hotel is eco aware and offers IHG points to members for choosing not to have room service.

Overall a very comfortable stay and we would like to return.

This holiday inn keeps getting better and better. The fun begins right from the reception. Wether you meet Joshua, Emma, Donabel, Rob or Gareth, the welcoming is always a great one. The cleanliness of the rooms are commendable. The bar/dining are superb. You barely could wait for the morning breakfast. Even when I return late on Sundays due to the nature of my job, Cath or Rob or Anthony will ensure that I did not miss the usual Sunday special. If I have my way, I'd like to name every staff in this hotel. Right from the kitchen staff who are always willing to prepare a bespoke meal for me, the morning breakfast staff, the bar/restaurant staff, the cleaners that are always handy to respond to my needs incase they missed my room during their routine cleaning due to my leaving a 'do not disturb' tag on my door. They are simply the best. The more I stay here the more I long to stay here.

This hotel is a paradigm of what a modern hotel should be. Saying its great is understatement. From the reception to the restaurant, bar and to your room, is beyond measure when it comes to standard. I've been to many hotels and I've stayed in hundreds of other holiday inn but this particular hotel is second to none. This is probably my 3rd month here and am not thinking of changing hotel rather am bringing my other colleagues over. I now have great friends here. Well done Rob, Gareth, Cath, Emma, Anthony, Benjamin, Ceri, Stacey. There's just too many of you, all great and wonderful staff. Thanks to all of you for making our stay here a great one. I hope the management knows your worth. And thanks for the Christmas card and a bottle of Champagne you left for me in my Executive room. I appreciate. Keep the good works going. Please say kudos to all the room service staff. The cleaners are superb.
