I stayed here for one night after being stranded in Conwy thanks to Transport for Wales failing to provide alternative transport when my train was cancelled. I was fortunate to be able to get a room. It was expensive but that is because I was on my own and I had to pay for a double room. For a couple I can see it would be good value for the quality of the accommodation. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. I liked the little things like the very high quality shower gels, the wide range of teas and coffees, the books provided and the easy to use good quality TV. The WiFi was excellent.
The extra large shower was wonderful.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful although it took a while to establish that the room was available and to book me in.
I only had toast and orange juice for breakfast as I was not that hungry but the quality of the cooked breakfasts looked amazing.
My only minor grumble is that I did not like the numerous pictures all over the walls of the room as they all had black frames and they were a bit too much. The decor was a bit dark but the room and the bathroom were spotlessly clean.
I would definitely stay there again.
Overall a lovely experience.

Went in for a drink in the bar at the front today, very quiet, service quick and efficient.
Returned in the evening for a meal in the restaurant.
Once again the service efficient and friendly but the food was average to say the least.
The fish I would have liked was sold out so I opted for two starters.
A crab and Scallop risotto with a Chorizo crumb was a bit like savoury rice pudding with just two or three scallops and no discernable taste of crab and I chose the scampi which was pretty tasteless and the dip was a bit too overwhelming.
My wife had the cheese soufflé with a beetroot concoction which had a very strange texture and look and did not look attractive on the plate.
However the Creme Brulees to end the meal were perfect and very well done.
This Hotel is screaming out for some care and attention as its decor is tired and dark. In particular I noticed in the bar and the restaurant the quality of the tables would have done any high street cafe proud..again scruffy and cheap looking.
When I saw the sign for the Gentleman's toilet I was wondering if this is the correct grammar.
In the afternoon I looked out the back where there was an unkempt and untidy seating area which was very uninviting.
The place could be so much better in appearance considering the very ornate and attractive facia that conceals a host of internal disappointments decor and cleanliness wise.
I noticed that the waste towel bins in the toilets had not been emptied and were overflowing and in the afternoon my wife noticed an empty soft drink can somebody had left in the entrance was there about 4 hours later when we returned for our evening meals.
It's the little things although seemingly unimportant that get noticed and with the staff available could be rectified..also there were two pepper pots on our table not the regular salt and pepper so again...small details.
These problems would not take much to rectify and with a fine looking establishment like this...it deserves more attention.

We visited to enjoy an evening meal in the restaurant and despite it being fully booked, the waitress was very attentive to all her customers and we weren't kept waiting long for our food. The quality of the food was excellent and we would happily book a meal with them again in thr future.

If looking to stay over a weekend I would advise pre-booking your evening meal however, if you are staying in the hotel they will usually try and fit you in where possible which was nice to witness.

Great stay, if you want Premier Inn styling its not for you. Squeaky floors but this is after all a 200 year old building. Food was great particularly the breakfast and the position in the centre of town is good. We were at the back of the hotel and I groaned a little knowing it would be over looking the car park, which it did but also a cracking veiw of Conwy Castle and St Mary's Church.

Enjoyed a lovely meal for my birthday with husband and daughter. The waitress girls were very welcoming and served us quickly. Forgot to add my starter at first. When I mentioned. They were quick to amend my order. Meal was different from the usual. Lovely fishcake with scallop. Starter.
Main meal was chicken korma in a basket made of what was like a poppadom. Daughter ordered chilli in the same kind of basket. Picture enclosed. Tables were apart enough for privacy.

Came for a birthday meal recently with family.

I don't know if it was an off day but the staff were not in the friendliest of moods we almost felt like we had done something wrong because on more than one occasion they were short, abrupt and rude to several people at the table.

At no point was it a friendly experience It was uncomfortable and sadly the food didnt make up for that either.

With a 10% service charge added without choice you'd expect people to at least make an effort to be nice.

Everyone has off days just sadly we had to endure it on my nanas 88th birthday

Booked here for a family dinner (7 adults & 5 children from 3 to 13), menu choice was good, although portion size (starters was small) overall food tasty nice and freshly cooked, staff were attentive, but we all felt the "automatic" inclusion of a service charge was a bit of a surprise (we tip well anyway) but prefer to make that decision based on the food and service rather than places that add it (as that's what they feel they deserve).
All in all, a nice meal and ambience (BTW, I nearly forgot to mention we were put in a room on our own which felt special for everyone, especially with some young children in our group)
