Such a charming and beautiful hotel, everything about our stay was magical. We were upgraded to a room with a bath and a view of the garden, where we enjoyed an evening glass of wine. The layout is a little confusing at first but only adds to the charm. Great food as well. We enjoyed both dinners we had in the dining room and the pub and breakfast was delicious.

Breakfast & Dinner : Good I had the lamb shank for dinner, it was nicely done. The meat was falling off the bone and the mash was good. Service: Friendly staff, good service. The best part is, you can ask for small changes to make a bespoke dish, if you don't like the items on the menu. The chef is accommodative.
Perfect location! It is close to the starting point of many walking trails and close to convenience stores, good cafes and restaurants in Crickhowell.
Rooms: Decent size and clean but the bed was bad!

Absolutely fabulous. Upgraded the minute we booked to a courtyard room which was spacious and immaculate. The place, the location and the sheer beauty was 2nd to none. Staff couldn't do enough for us. Food was fantastic. Everything about this hotel is class and we felt welcomed from the 1st minute. Dogs were welcomed also.

The Bear Hotel is simply charming. Very old and creaky and a bit of a rabbit Warren. Our room was lovely warm and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is really tasty with a good selection on the menu. The breakfast was very good and the waiting staff were pleasant. Can highly recommend the Bear.

We booked a night at The Bear for our anniversary. The hotel was lovely in beautiful surroundings. However, this wasn't what made our stay so spwcial and unforgettable. My partner has occasional mobility issues which meant that in the evening, despite booking dinner in the restaurant, he was unable to get down to the dining room. I explained this first to the receptionist and then to the manager. They were absolutely amazing and so understanding and kind. They let us order our three course dinner to be served in the room and a very kind gentleman brought each course to our room. I will never be able to express how grateful I am to the amazing staff. What could have been a very disappointing anniversary, was rescued by absolutely lovely people. We were in room 33 which was huge and absolutely beautiful. The following morning we made it down to breakfast which was delicious. I really cannot recommend The Bear highly enough. We will definitely be back.

An old coaching inn literally in the centre of Crickhowell, with a very traditionally comfortable interior. Warm and inviting, it's always very popular, with a reasonable menu and bar. Some years since we stayed here (we now live locally) but when we did the rooms were well appointed.

We stayed there for a few days of Christmas in 2022 (returning after a stay in 2021) I thought it was lovely… Great staff.. meals reasonably priced and delicious… Breakfast (included in the price of the room) lovely with lots of choice. Of course situated with some great walks around and Crickhowell itself has some lovely shops in.

Nice selection of beers on tap. Food also served here. Staff are friendly. Would recommend a visit. Since it's an Inn, the parking can be tricky. However there is plenty of parking around the place. Parking in the town center car park is pretty inexpensive too.
