Lovely venue but the bald manager ruined the experience for me twice in one weekend. Both times looking me up and down as I entered as if I didn’t belong there. Both times the bar staff had to apologise for his behavior. Other than him doing his best to make me feel unwelcome, a nice place to eat and drink…. If the manager lets you…..

A bit disappointed on this visit so a hard review on this occasion. The greeting was as normal welcoming but the initial impression was that the chairs were looking worn and then spoilt by the less than charming waiting staff. The food was as usual good. There used to be a maitre d. The boys doing the waiting on tables really are in need of some supervision and training.

Started out well with a really friendly waitress who was very attentive and efficient. She finished for the night and then we were left to it. We weren't asked how our meal was and were left for ages waiting for the bill as well as waiting to pay to pay. Food nice in the main but when I mentioned that the dauphinoise potatoes were dry and burnt the waitress just said the chef was sorry. I mentioned the service being hit and miss to the bald bar manager (mentioned in previous review) that dauphinoise potatoes should surely be creamy and not like a dry tarte tatin, he just looked at me with disdain and said he knew what a tarte tatin was and that they did things differently down here! Wouldn't come again which is a shame as it started out so well and overall decor, ambience and food was good.

Two of us ate at Foyles of Glasbury two nights in a row after a fabulous experience on the first night. A beautifully presented building and well-appointed restaurant with super decor and a cleanliness that would be the envy of many. A trip to the lavatories confirmed the level of detail was extended to the washrooms - immaculately tidy and clean.
Our table was in the main restaurant and our order serviced by the cheerful and helpful Nancy. Wine was brought by Etienne who did all he could to make our visit to the restaurant a pleasant one. On the first evening we had the prawn cocktail followed by the Slow Cooked Ox Cheek which was utterly delicious. A generous portion of starter and main and a lovely drop of Viognier with the prawns and then a rich Malbec with the beef.
A really good experience for us which saw us return the next evening. We had to use the bar area as the main restaurant was fully booked but it made little difference. The food was of the highest standard. We had the carpaccio of beef (superb!) and then a rack of welsh lamb.. what could be better than this in Wales?! Fantastic meal in Foyles and we will certainly be back.

Afternoon tea with friends: great service and lovely array of food presented on attractive China in an airy, comfortable dining space. Well worth a visit.

Had festive afternoon tea, delicious but I had a serious sugar rush afterwards. Great atmosphere and helpful staff. Will be back soon.
