What a great Pub and food. Hat's off an amazing portion of meat for a change and happy staff that looked after us. Why aren't all the chains pubs the same as the Cardiff section isn't as good as the two we visited in Llanelli. Mary Dillwyn was also excellent with exceptional service from Katie. My steak was superb and the other 3 meals were Carvery which again were value and a great portion of meat which is difficult to find believe me !

This is a review for the restaurant, not the Inn.

This restaurant blew my mind. The family was out and was coming back from Asda, we live a while away and were very hungry, we saw the Sessile Oak and decided to try it. This was a very good decision. Two of us ordered the mixed grill, one medium-rare and one medium. One of us had a burger and one of us had a surf & turf. All of the dishes were clearly well made, the steaks were pretty much perfectly cooked to our asking and all the meat was very tender and tasty. The staff are very friendly and the service is amazingly quick for the outstanding quality. Their deserts are very well crafted and extremely tasty also. My only criticism of this establishment is that they could use an extra scoop of ice-cream with the sticky toffee pudding.

I highly recommend this place if you want high-quality food in good time at an affordable price.

We popped in on the off chance we could get a table for 3. Luckily they were very accommodating even though it was gone 2pm, everywhere else was full.

For 2 adult regular meals, 1 child, 2 pints of coke and 1 1/2 came to £45. Service was really quick, from purchasing food to going up to get our food took around 10 minutes.

Not a bad meal to be fair, staff were really friendly and service is great.

11family members went out for a meal. On 30th Oct 22. We had a fantastic time. Food was excellent, staff made us feel very welcome. No rushing us out, and very helpful. Will be going there again. Thanks to all the staff. Great time had by all.

We ordered 2 dinners from the menu and were immediately advised they were not available on a Wednesday mid week some manager here who cannot keep up with his menu and keep his kitchen stocked up and keep his customers happy. Located in a very busy area. Staff could not care less. Have used other Marstons restaurants but will never return here.

I have been here many times, for breakfast and mainly for a Sunday carvery. I have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere there is lovely. Very helpful and friendly staff, great for families

We popped in without a booking for Sunday lunch and even thought it was busy they found us a seat. We were served quickly and the food was excellent. Would highly recommend and would come back in a heartbeat 😊

We won't ever be coming back here and judging by the lack of customers on a Saturday night, most locals feel the same way. We picked a quiet table away from music and other customers and away from having giant TV screens or flashing gaming machines in view because one of our party has additional needs on the autism spectrum. We were forcibly moved by the "manager" because they wanted to keep the section clear despite the fact that it made absolutely no difference whatsoever to the staff. They would bring food to a table 30cm away but not to ours apparently. The table we were forced to move to was quiet to be fair, but not as quiet or suitable for our needs as the one we chose and within sight of two giant screens and gaming machines with flashing lights. It was quite simply inexcusable to treat us this way and the "manager" is clearly more interested in pushing people around than in customer service. The pub itself was uncomfortably cold and when it arrived the food was barely warm. We sent it back and it was replaced quickly with hot food which was okay but nothing special. The tiled area of floor in front of the bar was greasy and slippy. How long before someone has an accident? Needs a good clean with detergent. I suspect this venue will close down soon. Seems as though people have voted with their feet - we originally tried the Beefeater and it was crammed solid. I'm so not surprised and I don't think it will be missed. Perhaps Marston's need to train their staff in customer service.
