“Steene Law Ltd are THE experts in paying for care and they saved us £56,000++ in care fees.

A Local Authority was demanding payment for care home charges in excess of £56,000 that we did not think were payable.

After speaking to David and Dianne, they assured us that we were right, and the Local Authority was wrong.

Paying for care home fees is a complex area of law and David and Dianne know paying for care law inside out.

Steene Law fought for us, and did not give up. The outcome was the Local Authority lost, and our dear relative has now been refunded well in excess of £56,000.

If you want to challenge care home charges, call David or Dianne at Steene Law Ltd.”

I recently spoke to David about Mis informed Top up fees and invoices for my Great Aunts care home. David is extremely knowledgeable and couldn’t offer me enough advise. He was very compassionate and understanding when I wasn’t aware of the legal jargon and was happy to explain. I would be happy to recommend him to anyone in a similar situation and will definitely be using his services if the need ever arises again. Thankyou.

My father and I were subject to an OPG investigation that came out of the blue, a very unsettling and worrying time after receiving the 16 odd page letter from them. A quick google search and I found David at Steene Law, I jumped straight on the phone and almost immediately felt like I was in good hands. His calming tone, reassurance and professional help throughout the whole investigation was nothing short of perfection. His “I’ve got this” mantra really showed he cares, always on the end of the phone or an email if you need him. His knowledge of this area brought the investigation to a swift and successful conclusion for us as a family. I honestly couldn’t recommend David and Dianne highly enough. He really does have a vast knowledge of this area of the law and I can’t quite put my finger on exactly how he made me feel, but needless to say I knew I was in good hands. Anybody that thinks they know more or better than David I guarantee you don’t !! Let him take the reins and follow his lead. David I salute you and thank you ever so much for all your professional help.

If someone close to you lives in a park (mobile) home and needs to move into a care home or extra-care accommodation, you need to know that your local council CANNOT include the value of their property when assessing their care costs, because a mobile home is considered chattel. This is something David brought to my attention and, as a result, saved our family thousands of pounds. My parents' property will now be inherited, in full, by their children, just as they wished.

David has a wealth of experience in this field, which he initially put at our disposal - for free - during a long telephone conversation where he explained the legal position relating to the above. Since then, for a modest fee, he put together a report which, if necessary, we could put before our local council to support our case. As it happened, our local council capitulated pretty quickly, but David is there to fight for the rights of those whose councils need a little more persuasion!

David is a solicitor with a heart - he truly cares about the plight of the elderly and is determined to champion them in situations such as this. I found him courteous, extremely knowledgeable and always available if we needed to contact him to clarify anything. I would not hesitate to recommend David (and his wife) to anyone seeking advice on matters relating to the legal/financial rights of anyone who finds themselves at that time of life where their circumstances dramatically change. I am so grateful for his help, without which my parents' home would have been sold and they would be fully funding their own care for the rest of their lives. Thank you, David!

David and Dianne supported us through a long a complex situation involving both my parents who suffered with dementia and required care home accommodation. From the initial discussion with David during which he provided reassurance until the recent closure of the Deputyship Order from the Court of Protection, we have found Steene Law to be knowledgeable, sympathetic, experienced, and most importantly willing to fully engage until all issues & concerns have been completely resolved. David and Dianne steadily and calmly steered us out of some very challenging situations, we would have been completely lost without them. We cannot thank them enough.

I cannot recommend Steene Law highly enough. I was lost when my mother who has moderate dementia came to live with me and my family unexpectedly. Thankfully David has been fantastic in every single way, especially as my mother's situation was very complex. Everything achieved by David and Dianne was more than I could have every achieved on my own. Prior to speaking with Steene Law I was lost and had no idea what my rights were, social services had been very good, but without Steene Law we would not have the care home that has now been agreed. Thank you David and Dianne, I truly cannot thank you both enough.

I met David several years ago and it was immediately apparent that he together with Dianne were experts in all matters to do with mental capacity and Court of Protection. In addition to understanding the rules, they were easy to deal with and there was never an occasion when either David or Dianne would not return a call and they would willingly answer any question. Most recently, we had a matter that went all the way to a hearing being scheduled at the Court of Protection. I think the words of the judge sum up everything about Steene Law. He said: “thank you for the excellently prepared bundle, case summary, skeleton argument and witness statements.  I have had a chance to read the hearing bundle and I am willing to make the requested order without the need for tomorrow’s hearing”. David and Dianne worked hard to make sure that I got everything I had applied for to the Court of Protection, I am told it is very unusual for a judge to write in the words he did.

I cannot recommend Steene Law enough

I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Steene Law if you have a relative in care who you are having to fund residential care out of their assets.

I approached David and Diane Steene for advice about Continuing Health Care (CHC) funding of a family member with dementia which had been denied unfairly by the local CCG. I was reassured by David and Diane that I was fully entitled to the funding and they advised me to pursue this funding.

It was only with David and Dianne Steene's extensive knowledge and experience of adult social care law as well as their tenacity that we finally achieved a successful and rightful outcome in that NHS England agreed with David Steene’s original view that there was an entitlement for CHC funding and that the local CCG's original decision was “unsound”.

I can't praise Steene Law enough for the help and support they provided to me in achieving the 'right' outcome.
