Set in a picturesque village I was able to park on the roadside quite easily but during the busy summer months I would imagine it could be tricky finding somewhere.
St Andrews Church is quite impressive looking set along side Bede House. Some interesting & historical artefacts can be found in both. Some old headstones in the churchyard along with very old coffin lids just inside.
Bede House is set to lawn with some seating. It's not a very large place & would say 90 minutes tops is all you need to visit both these buildings if you take a walk around churchyard too. Though if in the area, well worth a visit.

Lovely visit. Really recommend it. It was so interesting to learn that Henry V and his wife at the time, Catherine Howard had stayed there! Also, the church is worth a visit.

A nice period conservation with detailed explanations, illustrations and voice dialog. Sparsely furnished but renovated in a minimal style. An interesting diversion for an hour or so.

Really interesting place to visit owned by English Heritage. The building was in use as a Bedehouse up until the early 1930s when with the introduction of the post war welfare system it was taken over by English Heritage. There is some excellent restoration work and a few of the rooms are decorated to give a feel of how they would be for their occupants.
There are uneven steps and some low doorways so those with reduced mobility or in a wheelchair would not be able to access all areas. Next door is the village church and is also worth a walk around, stones in the graveyard date back late 1700s and early 1800s and the church interior has some quirky additions.

Interesting place and reasonable prices.
Good impression how life looked like at this time.
The church and cementary near by are free of charge and nice to visit, too.

Tucked away along the path in the churchyard. Looked like I was going into someone's back garden. Well preserved. Interesting to look round.

Nice place to spend an hour or so. Amazing to see the old architecture, especially the slated roof from the inside. A lot of the rooms are bare so not much to see in a lot of them, the top floor is the best.
