The Old Fire Station Surgery

This is an excellent practice and the staff are helpful, kind and professional. The telephone wait can sometimes be long but when you do get through you are never rushed; concerns are listened to, respected, and suitably referred. Call-backs are made when promised and reminders for followup appointments and treatments occur as appropriate.

I had a very positive experience with this surgery today when, after telephoning to seek advice on a skin complaint, I was invited to submit a couple of photos of my problem, and then my doctor called me back shortly afterwards. Perhaps I was lucky but I also got to see my doctor that same morning and medication had been prescribed and delivered to me within an hour of getting home. This is definitely worth 5 stars!

Vert impressed with the service I received today at the surgery. I called on behalf of a relative who needed an urgent appointment. The receptionist was very helpful and understanding, advised that she woukd try an arrange a telephone appointment this afternoon. Dr Malone called my relative and arrange an urgent appointment for this afternoon. Dr Mason was so kind and helpful and arranged so much today. Very, very impressed by her support and professionalism shown towards by relative . Thank you 😊.

The staff are very helpful and getting an appointment has been somewhat stressful because they ask some questions which can be personal. Especially if you suffer severe mental health issues like I do. The main reason such a low rating is for 2 reasons.

1) since they changed the telephone system the wait to get through to reception can be easily 1 hour and depending in the time of the day you may get cut off because it closes.

2) I have as have other patients I have spoken too have serious issues with repeat prescriptions. Even if you submit a request on the first day your able to I have only once had it signed off before I run out resulting in me having to get an emergency prescription resulting in a lot of extra expedenditure.

I honestly have not had a problem with this surgery. My husband and I have been with them for 5 years and the doctors have been fantastic, so understanding, kind and very efficient. I have suffered with mental health issues for the last 2 years and they have been nothing but supportive. The nurses and admin have been really helpful too. I do understand that trying to get an appointment is difficult but when I have been really concerned about a problem, twice I have been seen within the same day.
We would not change from this surgery.

Thankfully we don't need to contact the GP that often, but we have always had good service if needed, been with this surgery over 20 years and would be very reluctant to ever change. The reason why I have given just 4 stars is the phone system is a little difficult at times to get through to (even at 8.30am you can be 17th in the queue when the phone line has just opened). However ALL staff we have dealt with (regardless of their role) are always pleasant and helpful in what must be very difficult times. Thank you

Iv had a problem with repeat prescriptions not being ready on time. When approached the management lied and contradicted themselves to attemp to cover their backs.

Despite it taking longer than hoped for an appointment, the ladies at Tofs are all so polite and helpful, very prompt and efficient within the appointments too!
