Elm House Surgery

Nothing but praise for Elm House. Over the last 3 years I've had a few appointments and really happy with my experiences. Can't name specific doctors or reception staff but have always found them thorough and professional. Obviously it's a pain trying to get a same day appointment but once you get through on the phone the reception always do their best - even offering a phone appointment which for me has worked out fine. Today I got through at 8. 20am and was offered a 10am appointment. Feeling ropey I turned up and was seen in less than 5 mins (just before 10am). Given an examination, diagnosed and collected my antibiotics from the chemist round the corner. No complaints.

Impossible to get an appointment. Doctor won't prescribe further medication unless I have a face to face appointment. No routine appointments for three weeks, by which time I will have run out of medication. Called 65 times this morning but no 'same day' slots left. Receptionist directs patients to book online using 'Patient Access' portal. Once you log into this complex system the only GP services available to book are a Polio booster or a Smear test. Great! Directing people to this system is a ploy to get them off the phone. Spend another 20 mins on the phone in a long queue to be told the diary is being updated and no routine appointments are bookable at the present time. And so the merry-go-round continues. It's time to privatise the NHS, it is totally inaccessible for working people. It would be easier to book an appointment to see Putin in the Kremlin.

Overall experience has been amazing as I have been dealing with them for the past 10 years on and off. Receptionist team especially Lin , Nurses and GP to name Dr Reddy are very helpful. They all tend to go extra mile to help me wherever I needed their support. I would rate Elm house as the best surgery in the country.

Very pleased with this Surgery. I find the receptionist very helpful. Yes , you may need to queue a bit but thats to be expected. Sharon the manager is lovely, very helpful and professional. Dr Ready and the other Doctors are lovely and helpful.

Thanks to the specialist Asthma nurse, Michelle who has completed transformed my asthma treatment! I was sceptical after using the usual inhalers but offered a new inhaler treatment that is a game changer. Thanks Michelle for your support and care.

Been with this excellent surgery for 40 years and seen a lot of changes as well as GPs retiring - have recently needed acute pain relief and have found the receptionists and GPs excellent in responding quickly to my treatment.
My only niggle is the new system in trying to get an appointment and parking which is very difficult as the mobility gets worse...

Can I respectfully suggest that the practice manager try to call the surgery, see if you think the service being delivered is up to scratch

I’ve only been with this surgery for a little over a month but in that time they have already shown themselves to be super efficient.

My repeat medications were transferred over from my old practice within a week and I was able to request them through the NHS app. The Rx was at my nominated pharmacy within 24 hours.

I had my contraceptive pill check over the phone with the nurse and again the Rx turned up straight away.

After my first GP appointment I was sent for blood tests, scans and a referral was made (which I received the appointment email for within 8 hours!)

Honestly I struggle to understand the negative reviews some people have left? Probably annoyed the doctor won’t write a script for paracetamol and E45 cream.

I am so thankful to the whole team at Elm House for their fantastic service. You’re doing the NHS proud.
