The service is appalling! You get an appointment and never seen on time!
There’s no easy way to book an appointment! My sister goes online to her gp surgery to enter her details she gets an appointment same day. It’s disgusting here! Don’t bother yourself!
They neglect patients here hence my aunt and uncle died from their neglect in lockdown!
The short version is the staff don't know what they're doing, and the quality of care is so poor that despite really not coming from a background where I can comfortably afford it I had to resort to a private GP to get the information about what I actually need to do next. If you have a chance to use a different provider use them.
As for the details
I moved into the area six months ago and unfortunately the King Edwards medical Centre was the only nearby surgery taking new patients (something I wasn't happy about as I'd seen all of the reviews…)
Six months after registering and heard hide nor hair from them, I then needed to book in to see a doctor about two issues one of which was relatively urgent. I Followed the online instructions (which included completing a very detailed form explaining the nature of the issues which they seem to have just lost as when I did manage to get in contact with them they had no information about any of the problems)
In the end it became so desperate I had to go to a private GP (I work for a charity don't have the highest income so this is really not something I felt comfortable affording)
Depressingly the private GP was within about 10 minutes able to figure out the support I needed to deal with health issues and for one of them, set it into motion the solution right away but the other issue did need an NHS GP to send a referral letter he more or less wrote out the letter they would need to send, and explained all I have to do is get it in the hands of my GP and get them to refer it on (in this case the support I needed something they had a legal obligation to provide that they don't actually have any discretion).
The reception team didn't seem to understand their own system and affectively kept saying different things didn't work (booking nonemergency appointments in advance, inability to arrange online appointments et cetera....), but the thing I found particularly shocking is how when I explained that the fact that this had taken months and the steps I had to take (including resorting to private healthcare) was unacceptable they seem to treat this as if I was just moaning/as if it was a personal affront and just suggested I find a different doctor in future. So rude and completely unable to understand the flaws in the system. Interesting it was only at this point that despite them claiming the system is broken they somehow managed to arrange a telephone appointment (which rather makes me suspect the system was working but they only apply when they need to get someone to stop complaining......)
The whole surgery feels fundamentally broken, I can't understand how anyone would see this is helpful to patients or to the community it needs to be shut down and replaced by something that works
I have all the respect for Dr. John but nothing more!
I have been trying for 3 months to contact a doctor but my chances were 0 every time!
The online service is zero, you can't make any appointments because it's closed and you can get in touch by phone with a doctor as well!
The staff at the file speak very badly and are disinterested and all the results of the analyzes and tests in the hospital must go personally to pick them up because no one calls you to guide you what treatment to take or what to do
From me you have 0 stars
I was with the practice for 15 years but the management from past 4-5 years have destroyed this practice. Doctors were and are still very good.
Avoid and find other practices, plenty of choice.
