I cannot praise the Hersham Surgery more highly. I have just lost my mother and feel compelled to share my experiences of the practice. The staff were excellent during the years she was registered with them, and in her final months the doctors made regular home visits. The Doctors are all amazing, but of course, we all have a favourite... They all treated her with such respect and compassion.

I have spent many occasions in the waiting room with my mum and have a few observations I hope are helpful:-

1. Please be patient when you phone. The receptionists have to call up numerous screens on their computers; flick between screens and input data whilst you are talking to them. If they go quiet it is because they are having to concentrate on multiple activities at once. They aren’t being rude or unhelpful.

2. I have been shocked on numerous occasions by the way the general public speak to the staff members; unprovoked and unnecessary. I have witnessed receptionists trying to weed out the right information to assist the member of public, when it was the member of public who was in the wrong. No apology; just downright rude.

3. The Doctors are just fantastic. I cannot thank them enough.

Thank you all,
My mum’s family are all so appreciative.

The reception staff are less than useless. The phone line is always busy however staff behind the counter are routinely standing around and not answering the phone. Infuriating to think these people are responsible for the wellbeing of others.

I've been in the process of arranging an appointment for 3 weeks with their online service that takes up to a week (!) to respond to routine appointment requests and now they've given me a 3 hour time slot on a workday where I have to wait for their call 2 weeks in the future.

My prescription has now long run out and I am without my medication. Absolutely useless. Use a different GP in the Walton area.

This surgery has been a great support to myself and my family. All the GPs, nurses and paramedics working there that I've come across have been caring, empathetic and supportive. Thankyou very much.

Very sorry that some people have had a bad experience. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The Doctors have always been spot on when I have been in; and the Girls in the office have always been polite and professional. We all experience pressure in life and are not always 100% but there are always more positive points to the surgery than against.

If I could give them a zero I would …… any 5star reviews here I believe to be totally false!!!! The reception staff are horrid, uneducated and have a self importance that bellies belief!! With zero medical training they feel they are worthy of “triaging” patients. What gives them the right to decide who gets an appt and who doesn’t is unclear to many!! On the plus side drs and nurses are lovely ……. Get rid of the entire reception contingent and start again with a telephone system ……. Something that ACTUALLY WORKS. If you want to see a dr .,… go to AnE

In my opinion I am not too concerned about the reception and appointment side. That is I'm afraid always has been problems at the beginning of getting to see your Doctor. Am more concerned that I can communicate and feel a Doctor is actually listening to me. With the knowledge and confidence they have a real sense of understanding of whatever problem I may have.My practitioner is based at this surgery and I have to say he has been the best Doctor I have ever had. It has taken a long time to feel a Doctor is actually concerned and so helpful. At the end of the day it is the Doctor who I wish to speak to and nobody else. Because of COVID all surgerys are under pressure. Quite understandable. Course one can by pass the receptionist and write or e.mail. Think that could be much quicker. Just a suggestion.
