I have been moved to write my own review after reading the venom in many of the other reviews. Like many other surgeries, Lavant Road is under doctored and under funded leaving its patients with a shortage of appointments which can each only be 8 minutes long; the result is dissatisfaction. My own experiences have been of a group a staff who are considerate and professional and doing the best they can within the constraints placed upon them. Don't write a Google review, write to your MP or the Health Secretary to complain or pay for private healthcare; the NHS is broken and the likely outcome will be a partially private system within 5 years.

My partner has developed an inguinal hernia and needed to talk through his condition with a doctor as he has already had surgery for a hernia on the other side. As he rarely goes to the doctor it was a good time to also have a skin condition checked and a lump on his face. the receptionist offered an appt a week later . No problem. However, on his arrival and appt with Dr lewis he was made to feel he was wasting his time.....on an emergency appt...and that because he was worried about his health he came with a "shopping List" !!!! This is not the first time our family has experienced this attitude at the practice. I had the same attitude from another doctor re antibiotics for a severe sinus infection. As a family we rarely go to the doctors so if we go there is a definite need and we are not wasting anyone's time. I am sure that at some point during their training communication skills and empathy are taught. However, it seems to be a skill not put into practice. My partner and I are both professionals and fully understand that lives can be full of stresses, tiredness and long hours. However, a professional will leave that at the door and not let those everyday stresses affect their job, judgment and relationship with colleagues and customers and in this case patients. My partners industry is training, testing and examining as a senior training Captain in commercial aviation. This industry is carefully monitored and regulated to maintain training standards, professionalism , safety etc. Where is the the professional body monitoring the doctor / patient standards here? I am absolutely disgusted with the attitude of some of these doctors. I do hope as a result of this review the practice manager will look into the attitude of some of their staff. I will certainly be taking the matter further.

My doctor is lovely and has always been extremely helpful and supportive. The reception staff are generally beyond AWFUL and lack any concept of customer service or simple human kindness. Covid and the state of the NHS does not excuse their behaviour.

Reception staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. Called to make an appointment yesterday morning regarding extremely swollen and painful tonsils and was told to call back the following morning…I did so and was subsequently told there were no available appointments for a month, and should visit A&E. This isn’t the first time I’ve found them to be obnoxious and dismissive. Will look to move GP practice.

Having recently moved into the area I can honestly say that the we have found the service here to be excellent. The Doctors we have seen have both had excellent patient manner, been very efficient, courteous and effective. Equally, the staff on the desk have also been helpful and friendly. I have unfortunately witnessed on a number of occasions patient's being, well, less than patient with the staff taking the brunt of the rudeness and hostility when it hasn't appeared necessary. I understand that the system can be frustrating but shouting is unlikely to change anything. I have given them five stars as this is the maximum allowed.

A GP found my phone number in his free time to call me up and shout at me because he refused to help me so I complained. I went for a very personal reason and this left me panicked whenever I see a doctor now. Avoid this GP practice, particularly Dr Lewis.
