Empire IMAX is a let down.

First of all you pay 70 p per ticket as booking fee if you pay online. It is sparse so plenty of spaces book in person.

Second the screen seems not big when you have 65 inch TV at home. The screen 1.43x1 feels as if it is a square when you are used to 16:9 ratio.

Seats are very uncomfortable old fashioned. Premium seats no different to ordinary seat in comfort and size. It doesnt recline and stay.

Sound is not upto scratch. Very Loud and irritating but not immersive.

Pepsi 3 pound for small. Popcorn 5 pounds for small.
Expensive cinema tickets.

I love having a night out at the Empire Cinema in Rubery! It's such a great experience!
I came here for my one of my birthday celebrations. We watched 2 films, with a break in-between for a 🌭 and ☕!
The staff there are always happy and friendly, which is good to see!

Usually a great experience, but this time wasn't as great!
Screen 11 ...one of the speakers had a bad crackle and distorted the sound and my seat felt like it had barely any padding and was like sitting on a flat piece of wood .
Other screens are fine, but steer clear of this one! Did point out the speaker issue to a member of staff ......hope it's been resolved!

The best cinema in the Midlands in my opinion.
Accessible, plenty of parking, on main bus routes, several screens, friendly helpful staff, always clean, and I always feel comfortable and safe whenever i visit to watch a film.
Top marks!

Choose your screen carefully, some screens aren't very big - you can get some idea by comparing seat capacity. Otherwise a good cinema with good seats and IMAX screen option. It's clean and has standard food options and large car park.

Out of the 3 cinemas I could visit, this is furthest away but 9 times out of 10 I choose to travel the extra distance to Empire because it's just a better overall experience; firstly there is no faffing around with parking because it's ample and free. Secondly, they don't seem to mind you taking your own food in so long as it's not blatant but thirdly and probably more importantly - the IMAX screen and sound is fantastic.

Sadly this cinema isn't what it used to be. Their prices continue to go up, yet their seats are old and uncomfortable. Alot of the times when we have been people haven't been doing their job properly and haven't been widening the films to fit the screen etc or adjusting the sound properly. The films selection isn't the best either. Sometimes a film will come out, doesn't show for that long and you miss your chance. Yet they'll keep playing old movies for ages. Another thing that is disgraceful is the fact that it is contact less and they will not accept cash. I think that this is ridiculous and will eventually be their downfall. I personally for one will not be using this cinema again for that reason. The other reasons mentioned wouldn't be so bad if they didn't keep upping their prices.

I love this cinema. I go regularly with family and friends. I love films and there is a great range of films on offer. For children and adults.

I book my tickets in advance to make sure I get to see the film I like.
