Hilly fields sits atop a hill so the views are great. There are some very informative plaques telling the history of the area. Great place for walking the dog but please remember to scoop the poop

Quiet, tranquil open space - perfect for fresh air and peaceful walks, dog walks (please clean up after your dog though!), cycle rides or jogging. A few places to sit, but it's more of a keep-moving-through kinda place! As the name suggests - very 'hilly' but some flatter areas too if you struggle on your feet.

We Love taking the kids for walks here we go most weekends there's plenty of open space for everyone,
You'll always see people with there dogs which the kids absolutely love, there are plenty of dog bins scattered around as well for the clean up or tho there are still a lot of dog owners that don't pick it up.... but the majority do! there's a a few paths for cycling on and off trile also so enjoy !

Great place for a peaceful walk amongst the trees and fields. Has a nice circular walk without being too demanding.

Rambling grassy area with lots of copses & overgrown wooded outskirts. There are all sorts of trails leading off from the main loop & it's very easy to find the town centre, despite the rural illusion. Very close to Jumbo, & the Colchester Institute, but nonetheless often deserted but for a few local dog walkers. Panoramic views of Colchester North, & the railway can be had from the higher ground...

A surprisingly large outdoor area which can be accessed via a number of places. As the name suggests there is some fields, but also wooded areas. There is some more well used tracks as well as options for slightly less used paths. On a nice day, you can get some nice views out from here.

Nice and open suitable for cycling and walking, however I personally prefer places that are away from buildings and populated places. There are also many places to sit, good for picnics and enjoying the scenery

I have lived in Colchester for 40 years, but hadn't come here prior to this week. I now know what I have been missing. It is well used by dog walkers and cyclists, but it is large enough for people to be spread out, so that the paths are not over worn. The ground slopes down to the water meadows beside the River Colne; so the views across the valley are long and attractive. The rooftops of the town centre are also visible from the eastern flank of the area, including Jumbo, the Town Hall and the deconsecrated church of St. Mary's.
