Small reserve next to the Royal Military Canal and surrounded by farmland. Common terns nest on the scrape in front of the hide and kestrels and barn owls are often seen hunting over the meadows. Much of the area is grazed by sheep or cattle. Dragonflies and damselflies are a common site.

A bit off the beaten track, say a mile from Pett Level, or from Winchelsea, best to study a map of some sort.
A worthwhile visit, many ducks and wading birds present at certain times of the year, and yesterday the common terms were very active.

Amazingly beautiful part of the world on a cold, dry and sunny day.
