The Specsavers Optician prescribed to my husband after a rushing eye checking a reading glasses in 2019. the person who assists him is invited to choose two per glasses as it is on offer at that point and will be cheaper this way. Either she or the optician never mentioned that the second pair of glasses were for distance at that point. My husband complained to me about the second pair immediately. While wearing them, he could not see properly, as they were blurry and foggy. We decided not to wear them anymore. We could not go back directly as the pandemic hit the world; the rest is history. In 2021 we went back to the same company, the same optician and explained the situation when he asked how do the reading and the distance glasses are? At that point, we discovered that the second pair was not the same as the reading one, and we requested an explanation; the answer was simple: "language barrier."
Furthermore, the optician said that the distance needed to be increased and he needed to wear them all the time; even my husband and I expressed the discomfort and the issues regarding these glasses. Knowing he was struggling with headaches, he decided to wear the distance one as per optician advice. Then was even worse; he had GP appointments, blood tests, and outpatient appointments during the 2021 year because the glasses caused more headaches than good for his health.
In 2022, I suggested to my husband to check his eyes at a different optician and a different brand/office. We found out that his distance vision is not mandatory for wearing glasses; he needs the reading one only.
We went back to the Specsavers to inform them about everything. The manager defended his doctor, saying the glasses were done correctly by prescription, without considering my husband's impossibility to wear them or harm his health. Furthermore, he apologised to us, but nothing more, as my husband's eye health was at risk when wearing them or reassured us that he would speak with the optician who saw my husband for eye testing. He would not admit that his team made mistakes after mistakes regarding my husband’s eye test or missing pass information when we asked from the beginning.
Our horrible experience with the Specsavers left us under the impression they are only for money, as from them I haven't seen any values, ethics or individual approaches towards us. The communication was poor, and the time spent in the optician's office was short.
I do not recommend this to anyone! I could not post the review without any stars, which is not fair either.

Been using them for a few years now. No issues. Staff are lovely and helpful. My glasses have always lasted well and eye test have always been done in a timely manor. Wife also now uses them now for her glasses, along with our little one. Being little, her prescription changes every few months, well feels like that, so we are often the shop. Recommend you go see for yourself next time you need an eye test.

Prefer specsavers over most opticians. Gets busy at weekends even if you've booked something

Customer service is always top notch in this shop. I got a pair of fab Tommy Hilfiggers for half price. Keeping it value, keeping it cool. Always a pleasure to give them a visit.

Good service from this branch for a 3rd annual eye test, polite and on time. The optician fully explained eye changes and the shop manager was efficient.Well done!

Awful, awful, awful. I booked a home visit for my 94yr old mum to get her eyes tested. The lady cancelled at the last minute so I rearranged for another day she cancelled again. I made another appointment and can you belive she cancelled again . Absolutely shocking service

Worst Specsavers I’ve been to. I’ve had glasses and contacts all my life but this place just couldn’t get it right even with months of backwards and forwards. Needed upgraded prescription for my contact lenses before my honeymoon… they knew how important it was. Should of just gone somewhere else.
