Visited this branch recently and I don’t see the point of being told to wait by the door until someone serves you if no one actually bothers coming to serve you. After waiting almost 15 minutes by the door the store manager asked why I was standing by the door. I told her I was asked to do so by her colleague and she said no come in and browse and have a tray to put glasses in I tried on. Poor management.

Terrible service! Cancelled my appointment via text at short notice and didn’t call so ended up turning up at the store.

Had to rearrange at East Ham spec savers, having been told by someone on the phone at ilford that they fit lenses for frames that are not specsaver frames, and went through my whole eye test at East Ham to be told that the don’t fit lenses for my frames as they are another brand!

Very unprofessional bunch of people. If it wasn't my local I would never go there. They take forever to see you. I've never been seen on time and they don't seem to be bothered. New staff are young kids who seem more suited to working at a supermarket than at an Opticians. When I went to collect my glasses, they don't even sit you down or test suitability. The kid who served me simply bent the arms of the glasses on the table and said 'there you go'... Just terrible.

After receiving a letter to book an eye test urgently I booked an appointment over the phone to schedule an eye test, I spoke to a member of staff who had poor etiquette she spoke to me with very little care. I work full time so I was asking for the availability they had for the week and her response was “if you have such busy schedule you should book online” I looked past her attitude and went on to ask what is the process for a person who is diabetic she said eye tests are free if you are diabetic, I booked a appointment for 4pm Saturday and wasn’t asked any further questions. Being a mum who works full time I then schedule my chores around this appointment l. I get to the Ilford branch and was greeted by a lady who was polite and asked how long ago was I diagnosed I replied a saying 2 months ago. She then said she may not be able to see you if you have been diagnosed so recently and asked me to wait. I then was asked to sit and was called in around 3:55 by the optician who then sat me down and explained why she could not complete an eye test as she wanted to save me money as she think once my sugar levels stabilise I will not be happy with any prescription and will end up coming back. Why could this not be explained when I called in to make the appointment? My whole day was wasted and I’m appalled by the lack of service I have received.

The level of customer service here is below the grave that’s how appealing it was. This includes the director of the branch Muhammad who is condensing and lacks basic manners that you learn when you are 5 years old let alone as a mature adult who is on a director level. I’m not sure if Muhammad has ever been trained to speak to customers with care but he definitely needs to learn the basics before being a so called director. Lots of people waiting around to be seen but there is no sense of direction or organisation within the store. Customers sit confused as they don’t have a queue it’s whoever the employees feel like seeing depending on their mood. I am basing my experience from several years of experience in this brancd and it has not changed one bit if anything it has declined even more. Either shut this store down or invest in some serious customer service training and this should include Mr Muhammad the director as he seems to lack it the most.

Would give 5 stars for efficiency, availability and flexibility but customer service or, more precisely, patient-quality service deducts the 3 stars. Eye test felt rushed, the contact lens consultant was very mean, impatient and unhelpful with my 1st ever experience trying on lenses. I was blamed for not properly watching an instructional video and the lens consultant was reluctant giving me out any tips - only stared me down rudely while I was struggling, extremely uncomfortable and stressed out.

Seriously horrible place. From the best to worse. I was dealing with Owen from contact lenses. Who was great. Very motivating. I was always told by owen not to give up and I can come till I get it right. Today was my first 1-2-1 session with Jess, which went horrible. It seems like she wasn't even bothered. Wasn't guiding me. Same what I know. There was also mohammed. Who seems to have taken over with Jess for Owens position. Said after 3 sessions we can't do no more. Jess said she won't re book me. She won't keep the contacts. I asked to keep them for another month. I can practice at home. She then replied. If u buy them privately there is no reason to come back here. Just continue. Will be complaining to Specsavers direct.
