If you qualify for an NHS voucher and aren't sure that you actually want to wear glasses because of the small improvement that your prescription will make to your eyes, have the optician make out the voucher anyway.

If you change your mind later and try to get them to give you your voucher, they will refuse and you will have a real fight on your hands. I've been back three times and they are still fighting me. I'm about to contact the practice management over the issue.

Booked an eye test 2 weeks in advance, had confirmation via email. Two missed calls on the days leading up from an unknown number, traced to be the local branch number, attempted to call back no reply!

Turn down a days overtime at work

Turn up at pay £1.50 to park

Walk in, Sorry our optromotist is not here we did try and call all customers and leave messages.

I have no messages no emails nothing

I've only been using Scrivens for about 8-10 months but think that the customer service I receive here is excellent. Everyone is cheerful and chatty and always feel welcome. Old fashioned standards. Great job by all.

Went for eyetest a year ago and was told I needed varifocals(never had them before).I kept questioning why and was told I needed distance, medium and closeup. I kept insisting i didn't need closeup,my closeup vision is fine but they kept insisting i did need them so I caved in to pressure and paid over 3 hundred quid for a pai of specs I didn't really want. I was then told they take some getting used to (they weren't kidding). When I started wearing them I noticed the right eye sharp left eye soft and if I weara all day they give me a headache. I kept trying to percevire with them but finally gave up and decided to take them back. I was told I had left it too long for them to do anything about it and that it was my choice to have varifocals, which is rubbish because I kept questioning it. I then told them I had bought a pair online for 35 quid using my old prescription and was told that was illegal,I don't see how an old prescription can be illegal. I genuinely feel I was miss sold something I didn't want or need and refusing to do anything about it or give me a refund is pretty pathetic.
