I went to collect my childs (12month old) prescription for antibiotics (amoxicillin) i was told by the lady at the counter (young Caucasian girl) that they do not have my child's prescription and that it can take up-to 48 hours to be received from the doctor surgery. I then asked her to please double check as my child has a severe infection and requires the medicine asap as without he is struggling to sleep or eat. She went away for a few minutes and upon return assured me that it 100% is not with them and to come back in a day or 2. I then rang my doctors surgery and they advised me that the prescription was sent electronically and it has been received, i told my surgery about the information I received from the pharmacy and was advised told by my doctor that they are most likely being awkward with me as they probably do not want to make/mix up the amoxicillin (as the pharmacist has to physically make up the medication and can take 5 minutes extra to make up). I then went back to the pharmacy and advised them on what my doctors surgery had advised me…and magically they had the prescription and began making up the medication. I was then given the medication with no explanation as to why they lied to me and why they initially denied my baby his medication which was needed asap. At no point was an apology provided either. If it wasn’t for my child being severely ill i would have spoken to the duty manager. I will not be using this pharmacy again as it does not follow any code of conduct or ethics, has no care for the well-being of my baby and also lied to my face! I do not understand why or how this happened. I would at-least out of courtesy expect an apology for this extremely disturbing and unprofessional experience.
