Wheathampstead Post Office

Fine as a Post Office but it is also a village shop. In the latter area they need to up their game - closing on Saturday afternoons will hardly promote customer loyalty. A look at Mary Portas and how to turn businesses around would be worth their while.

I have used this post office and shop for on average twice a week for about a year. Recently Ive had a few difficult experiences there.

Please can the shop owner
-make it CLEAR as to how many people are allowed in at any one time.
-make it CLEAR if there is a one way system OR NOT.
-enforce Covid 19 rules.
-make it CLEAR if you have to use the left OR right counter for groceries or for posting/ or for both or not?

They seem to pick and choose when they want to serve postal customers on the shop till, its random. If your really unlucky you have to join the back of the postal queue after buying an item from the 'shop'. But this depends on who is severing you. Sometimes you can buy both items at one till..

Ive been told off by a customer for being the 3rd person in the shop, then another time I wait outside and people just walk straight in past me. Ive been the second person in the shop and as i've finished i've turned around and have 3 people within 2 meters of myself.

I just want consistency, knowledge, fairness.

I like the shop owners but I have not seen them recently to share this with them and only for the reasons above I give 2 stars. I will use anther postal shop for the moment until this is sorted.

Such lovely friendly staff run the post office, always a joy to visit...And nothing is too much trouble. Extremely lucky to have this in our village!!..Doing a Great job guys. Thanks!🤗

I went for post but found many exiting grocery price .. also now they selling alcohol 🍷 that’s good news .. thanks for keep opening shop in pandemics 😷

Whilst the shop is reasonably clean and tidy, it's range of products can make finding what's required difficult. However, the main issue we have experienced fairly regularly is poor service eg the use of 2 different service queues for one server. Again this morning I waited on the Post office side while the server was serving someone with store items. Whilst I waited, others joined the queue behind the lady being served - the server then ignored me and continued to serve others!! When I reminded her that I was next she said "as I just had a letter to post, she would serve me shortly". I told her to forget it and went to use the Post office at Kimpton - this has recently been refurbished, has a proper queuing system and a far better range of goods at more reasonable prices.
After this latest example of poor service, I have no intention of using the Wheathampstead P.O. in future and will be encouraging friends and family to do likewise.

Bought a packet of envelopes and sticky tape by touch card. I had been double charged. I asked for receipt to show that was the case. Not good. Check your transactions.
