Green Lanes (137) Post Office

Like the reviews below, I had a terrible experience here. The lady was not just unhelpful but incredibly rude. I strongly advise you to avoid going this post office and shop, and either use the post office near Stoke Newington green or on Church St. It is not worth the hassle and unpleasantness of going here, just because it is nearer.

A lot of people seem to review this branch confusing it with another down the street. These staff are incredibly friendly and an absolute delight to be served by. I've come here many times and I've never had anything to complain about. Good and fast service delivered by friendly faces. I definitely recommend everyone to come here for their serviced and will definitely do so myself too! These people are definitely some of the nicest staff I've had the pleasure of dealing with.

Mixed experience here. Usually have no problem with the post office. Shelves are often dirty/dusty and need a deep clean. There is a minimum requirement for paying by card in the shop which seems a bit backwards in 2020, and with a pandemic. Mask wearing needs to be enforced more.

Friendly customers will be met repeatedly by unhelpful to rude attitude. Stays the same year after year. In this place the customer is always wrong. It's worth the walk to the next post office in Newington green where everything is easy. There's a reason there's always a queue at the better post office, customers vote with their feet

Acceptable in a hurry if you buy postage in the shop. However, be prepared to be persona non grata if you dare to send anything pre-paid here and happen to be served by the man behind the counter. Deeply unprofessional service and falls far short of the standard I expect from Royal Mail. Avoid this branch if possible.

I occasionally sell items on eBay and make use of their integration with Royal Mail to buy pre-paid postage at home- convenient for me and safer during a pandemic, allowing me to spend a minimal amount of time in the post office itself while I'm dropping my parcels off. When scanning my parcels the man working here consistently scanned the wrong barcode, gave up and told me that I had to take my parcels to another post office instead, despite using the same pre-paid labels his co-worker had scanned the previous day. On subsequent occasions he did the same thing, requiring intervention from his co-worker to get the job done every time.

On another occasion the same man told my wife off several times for sending multiple pre-paid parcels that she was dropping off on my behalf- he also told her that she had to go to another post office in future. He scanned the parcels begrudgingly and didn't print out proof of postage for everything being sent. When my wife challenged him on this, he lied about printing the receipts until she proved that he hadn't. His co-worker intervened again and printed out a receipt on his behalf, as he refused to acknowledge his mistake.

By contrast, the Church Street post office further up the road was much more professional. My wife took the same number of parcels to them the following week and received courteous service and proof of postage collating all of our tracking numbers, without complaint. We won't be returning to the Green Lanes branch in future.

Fantastic post office. Love it compared to the ones down the road - husband and wife team are amazing and always make time for their customers.
