One star is definitely too high!!! I have been putting up with the sub service in this post office for many years, only because it is my local post office. Yesterday was the end of me supporting this sub post office. It is run by a husband and wife team. The husband is normally satisfactory in the politeness department (he is on the shop section). On the other hand the wife (who is on the postoffice section) Not only coughing into her hand, then touching everyones parcels and receipts! She is absolutely rude, unprofessional and has forgotten that she is representing the postoffice! She makes lengthy private phone calls whilst trying to 'serve' customers!! often getting the request wrong as she is other wise engaged on the phone, (once, she was buying car insurance). yesterday took the biscuit, she was so rude to me treating me less than a human being never mind a paying customer! She barked at me to change the envelope I had presented due to the writing being too large! So I asked if they had any for sale - she grunted and pointed in the direction of the disorganised envelope selection. I had to purchase a whole pack. Queued up again - for her to tell me that I need to pay for the envelopes first with her husband. I tried to pay with my debit card - he insisted that it was a £5 minimum spend (even in covid times?) I didn't have any cash, so he said I could pay through the post office - I then swapped queues, to be confronted with his rude wife - this time barking at me to place the letter on the scales, she then shouted orders - "put your card in the machine!" I asked why I was not able to use contactless? she shouted aggressively, "stop making trouble! You come in here with big writing on your envelope and now don't want to pay!" I replied, "I just want to know why I can't use contactless for £7.40?" she then shouted "DO IT OR GET LOST!!" I couldn't believe that I WAS BEING TREATED SO BADLY! There were other customers in the shop at the time of this incident! I looked at her husband and he condoned her despicable behaviour - just smirked. I really needed my parcel to go as it was urgent, in any case I had also used one of the envelopes and so needed to pay for them, so I said please could you just take payment £7.40 for this and I will be gone. She exclaimed aggressively, "put your card in the machine with PIN number - no contactless. So I reluctantly touched the contaminated chip and pin machine. I then said, "I can't believe how unprofessional and rude you are. You are always on your mobile on a private call and trying to serve paying customers as a secondary duty! She then threw my receipt through the gap in the window at me. I took it and said thank you very much and also said thank you to the husband. neither of them replied, just carried on as normal - this rudeness is obviously a regular and normal occurrence. Looking at the other reviews - i'm not the only one that has been subjected to this rude, lack of basic politeness in any shop. Its ironic that down at the Dorking post office they give out comment cards on how the staff interacted with you today! The service in impeccable there! I can see why they don't have these cards here! I won't be giving them my support any more. I feel like I'm paying for their rude service and not the postoffice service! Do the post office vet the service of these sub post offices?? This women is giving the post office a bad name!!!

I am truly shocked ! How on earth this lady is allowed to represent the Post Office beggars belief ! She is not only arrogant and unhelpful but also manages to be extremely rude to customers. It’s a shame I love to support local businesses but this one I will now avoid like the plague. I doubt very much she will even bother to read these poor reviews but just in case she does. I want you to know that I will be making an official complaint to the Post Office about you

As someone who wants to support Royal Mail and my local village post office it saddens me to say I will no longer use it given the UNHELPFUL, UNRELIABLE & RUDE service I repeatedly receive from the postmistress while trying to send the simplest of parcels!! Parcels within The Royal Mails required dimensions and weight are regularly refused and a more expensive service insisted upon even tho I have subsequently taken to numerous alternative post offices only to be accepted without question, let alone a battle.
I have returned home with parcels in hand today for the last time…after being rudely and abruptly turned away today by the postmistress not because the system is down(as it so often is) or other understandable reason, but because she had an appointment elsewhere,so shut up shop. If you like me want to support the amazing service the Royal Mail offers…USE ANOTHER POST OFICE (Newdigate is superb)AND AVOID THIS ONE AT ALL COSTS!

The woman who serves at the post office section is stunningly rude and arrogant, and should not be working in a customer facing role. I usually avoid Capel Post Office for this reason and drive out of my way to access other, more professional post offices. I had to use the Capel branch yesterday and my husband asked me if the woman was her usual appallingly ill-mannered self, “oh course” was my reply.

Don’t go here unless you like to be spoken down to and treated with utmost disrespect.

Sadly this post office did not accept my 'Drop and Go' parcel for scanning, on the pretext that they weren't sure that I had paid the correct postage. As the lady suggested I left it there for normal collection, but of course I've lost the 'signed for' service that I paid for online. I suspect the lady wished to 'encourage' me to buy postage directly from them - if so I think she miscalculated. I have dropped off pre-paid parcels there before without problem, and generally I don't have a problem with the service in the post office and shop. On reflection I should have kicked up more of a fuss, so I'm venting my annoyance by writing this review.

Updating this review a year later. Taken another parcel there, an empty toner cartridge going back to Brother for recycling in a box complete with paid for label. First she said she couldn't scan it because there was no bar code. I found the bar code and she refused to scan it. Looks as if I will have to take it to Newdigate PO, as I've done before - they will accept it without fuss.

Not that it will make any difference to her, but the lady who operates the post office is the most unhelpful person I’ve ever had the misfortune to come across in business ! Sad but if you don’t like the work move on!

As previous reviewers have noted, the post mistress at this Post Office has a vile attitude towards their customers.

I too was there to use the Click and Drop service and I too was told that this is not something that they do. Whilst she agreed that I could leave the parcel, she refused to stamp the certificate of posting or supply any alternative.

When questioned, she started shouting at me, to the point that I actually asked her to stop and calm down.

I rarely feel strong enough to write reviews, or make complaints, but, this woman is a disgrace and could benefit from some serious training from the Post Office, both in customer service and what their obligations are.

Until this happens, if at all possible, I suggest people avoid this post office and use another. I certainly won’t be returning.
