North Street Post Office

I went to the post office to send 2 small envelopes to the USA envelopes 220mm x 140mm and slightly padded. Ended up paying for large envelopes even though if he had pushed them through the slot on her card they would have gone but no she wasn't to do that even though they would go flat and go through. Wouldn't accept the customs form either even though I printed them from the Royal Mail website so had to fill them out again for her to stick on. So instead of the post being £2.40 per letter I got charged £4.20 per letter and to top it all I had to have do you need any cash back, lottery etc etc. Something that should take 5 mins tales forever with them - guess they're on commission being as get the sales pitch every time you go in.

I try to avoid going to this post office at all costs as it’s so stressful! The only times I go is if I’m actually passing.
All I want to do is post a parcel 2nd class and I’m interrogated to but lottery, get cash out have my mail 1st class, signed for or next day!! I go in and tell them that’s all I want but they still go through the upswell so I just ignore everything else they say, I feel so rude but it’s so annoying!!!!

Two separate occasions I have asked specifically for 2nd class signed for, on both occasions I have been charged £8.95 for 1 days special delivery that is £4 more expensive than 2nd class signed for. Judging by the reviews I am not the only person who experienced this, seems like this post office takes advantage of customers who are none the wiser.

Very handy post office for most things related to letters, cards, parcels, money exchange & much more. Well stocked. Just a pity that the gentleman in there is so pushy with his sales pitch, trying to get you to post parcels far more expensive than needed with signed for & special delivery. Then if he doesn’t succeed with that sale he tries with a lottery ticket. You have to be firm & say NO to him! Shame really because the other staff are very efficient & pleasant.

I avoid this post office at all costs, even if it means driving out of my way to another. The staff make for an uncomfortable experience, consistently ignoring what you ask for to instead sell you a service at an extortionate price which isn’t needed, and, if refused, become extremely rude and abrupt. The last time I visited I was quoted a different price for a service and only realised once I checked my receipt.

Absolutely shocking customer service, head into town centre instead where the staff are much friendlier and provide you with the service you actually wish to purchase!

Very very pushy in trying to upsell more expensive services. I've used this post office twice - the first time they charged me for recorded delivery even though I asked for standard, and yesterday I had to fight pretty hard just to buy a first class stamp for a large letter, and even then they refused to give me proof of postage. I'd advise going elsewhere.

As stated by other customers, this place systematically rips you off. I have been in several times and specifically asked for first or second class tracked, and they have missed sold me special delivery without telling me that they are giving me special delivery. I can only imagine they are on some kind of commission because they seem to sell you services that are good for them, but not what the customer wants. I have complained to Royal mail and about to complain to the actual post office.

I have been going to this Post Office for the last 2 weeks, sending parcels etc from a well known auction site. My god, they push the sell, everything is just one big sell to them,.
So I need to post an item 2nd class signed for, easy you would think. Oh no, not to the Post Master and his staff,. They give you a price on everything else accept what you want, including do you want lottery, stamps, sweets, cashback etc. No, no no, I just want to send a package 2nd class signed for.
Please please please, just do what I ask. Also that Post Master, got quite abusive when asking me about parcel insurance, I stated that hopefully the item wouldn’t go missing, I was then answered with “ items go missing all the time”. Really!!
Just for the record, I don’t usually do reviews, but felt I had to with this. I am a former Royal Marine with good intelligence and a degree, and I know how to dress my self each morning. I am not thick, I just will not tolerate a bullying piece of xxxt.
I won’t be visiting again.
