South Oadby Post Office

This is a small Post Office which has always been part of a Convenience Store but had its own distinct space at the back of the shop with a proper Post Office Counter and the Clerk behind a glass partition.
I have always loved this Post Office in the past as the service was friendly and efficient.
The last time I posted something from there was just before Easter 2017 and everything was much as usual.
So imagine my shock when I went in there today - virtually the whole of the shop has been given over to groceries, etc. and the Post Office now shares a cramped counter with a shop till. Parcels and other things are within easy grabbing distance and, as the queue is the same as the shop till's queue it is not only unclear who is in which queue but there is also no chance of any privacy.
Needless to say I took my business elsewhere and will not be returning.

I disagree with some of the negative reviews on here. I have been visiting this post office for a number of years and found the both ladies to be friendly & helpful.

During the pandemic, the post office arm is constantly busy, I can't remember a time where I have visited and there's not been a large queue out the door, you can appreciate the pressure they're under to be as quick & as efficient as possible... Also NONE of my parcels have ever gone missing & these guys are 100% trustworthy

Finally these guys are much politer then the post office in Oadby Parade!

The women are usually not overly friendly just providing a service without any customer skills BUT!! I want to get in and out fast so it suits me. Atleast they don't charge more on postal prices like the parade post office drones.who in my opinion are lazy and make you pay out the odds because they don't want to check the size of something so they guess.

I dont understand what some of these reviews expect from people working?' A hi at the door ,did you find everything you needed?how has your day been? 'Why would you want this kind of repetitive nonsense said to you? If its not genuine and will last under a few minutes of your time spent within the shop, why do you want this experience.?

The pretty new lady, I think her name is Amun who works there at the weekend is very friendly and helpful! Very refreshing to have someone who says hello to you!

Really, really poor customer service. Sometimes don’t even get a response from the lady behind the counter, just silence. Wanted to buy a chocolate bar whilst also posting a special delivery item and was told I had to use other till for that. Switched across only to be told couldn’t use my card because it was below minimum value even though I just spent over £10 posting an item - seriously?! I believe in supporting local businesses but that’s pretty hard to do when you get this sort of service.

Great location with outside parking. Likely to get busier now being charged to use Oadby central car parks. Customer service skills leave a bit to be desired. An occasional smile wouldn’t go amiss. And please answer your phone!

The owner is lovely. Always says hello as I’m a regular but always welcoming. I don’t agree with the negative reviews about this small local independent business . Queues can be a problem and the snotty school kids can be a pain but best to avoid school kid times. Can park right outside too.
