Was great for a train enthusiast... but for small children can be a tad boring. advisable to take a card game to play with on the journey to the end and back again. We also took our dog ... an expensive day but an experience

The West Somerset Railway is one of the best heritage railways in the country. The longest heritage railway in the country running only on privately owned track. Good facilities, restaurant carriage on most trains. Friendly staff.

This may be one of the stations on the West Somerset Railway, but this is not part of the WSR, so don’t be misled by some of the other reviews! Washford has an excellent museum with lots of history of the former Somerset & Dorset Railway, sheds you can visit, a signal box and you can even have a go at operating some of the (decommissioned) signals. This is certainly one of our family’s favourite stations to visit along the line. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable, and they have a very small shop. There’s a great pub in the village too.

The station is a one of a gem on the WSR it is well looked after eith friendly and knowledgeable staff and grest museum on the Somerset and dorset joint railway there is so much to be learnt

On some Gala days one of the engines owned by the trust can be seen with a lovely restored Coach that trasportd you to the golden days of steam

Last year i was lucky to speak to some of the volunteers when the coach was being worked on last.

the staff were kind enough to show round the coach and other restoration projects that they doing.

It is worth a visit if you like History and trains

I visited here on Saturday 31st July, at 12pm, however it was closed. There were other people too very disappointed as in Google it stated open till 1300 pm.
But will visit this place again for train experience.
