This was our first visit to No. 1 and it won't be our last! We started with the a la carte menu but after the first mouthful of our starters we asked if we could change to the tasting menu. Johnny was very accommodating and really went the extra mile for us.

The menu isn't fussy and what you get is wonderful seasonal flavours beautifully presented.

Top field Johnny, top field.

We enjoyed a wonderful six course tasting menu with a nice bottle of red wine. It was a warmish summer evening so we had our meal in the outside portion on the restaurant. Everything was perfect, tasty and fresh. Service was casual and we lacked for nothing. Dishes were served warm or cold as appropriate. We are already planning our next visit!

Celebrated our 4 years together here and wouldn't regret our booking. The service along with the food and ambience was top notch and great introduction to our first vegetarian tasting menu in the UK. Each course was completely different, with a fine dining take on simple ingredients. We highly recommend this for a special occasion or a treat.

From other partnerd perspective:
Spent our four years at a spa hotel nearby and stumbled across this place when googling lunch options. An absolutely fantastic experience, with sublimely crafted plates of food, excellent friendly service and even provided us a tasting menu for lunch upon request which they usually do not offer. Somewhere I expect will be on the rise and considering it has only been open 7 months, I would go there before it gets booked up (and you miss out on such a lovely experience)

This restaurant has many things right: it is beautifully decorated and laid out; the staff were very welcoming and the small menu meant great, fresh ingredients. The food we ate was tasty however the portion size was tiny. There were no carbohydrates (apart from the bread we were given at the start) and very little vegetables. No matter how slowly we ate, we had finished our two course meal in just over an hour despite sitting for quite a while with a glass of wine. Sadly, we left very hungry after a pretty pricey evening,
What a shame. We wanted to support a local restaurant.

My husband and I are so pleased that No. 1 Broad Street has re-opened with such a great chef and menu offering. We went for Saturday lunch and experienced the most wonderfully presented and delicious food in a relaxed and contemporary setting. The Italian rose wine we chose was fabulous and the service excellent. We’re delighted the restaurant offers an a la carte menu as so many other fine dining restaurants in the vicinity prefer to impose a fixed ‘tasting menu’ on you. We were regular guests of the now closed Jeremy’s restaurant at Borde Hill. No. 1 Broad Street has most certainly filled the gap left by Jeremy’s. So much so we’re about to return just a couple of weeks later for dinner. Most definitely very highly recommended.

Visited restaurant following a recommendation from family and being purchased a voucher. High expectations indeed. Sadly does not live up to these. Arrived slightly early but seated quickly, waited almost 30 minutes to be asked for drinks then food order taken, wine banged down on table and despite being a bottle with a cork not offer to taste, wine not poured either. Amuse bouche served without break like other tables. I should add only 7 tables in service with two staff. Starters arrived and not as described on menu, warm pear salad with Gorgonzola with no cheese and stone cold, ravioli with extremely thick pasta and poorly created tomato sauce. Then waited nearly an hour for main courses, food delivered to incorrect table then sub standard. Tapenade with lamb was in fact tzatziki and duck was served over cooked. Dauphinois was not correct and tasteless. Decided not to order desert as didn’t fancy waiting another few hours for something that wouldn’t have been to standard. Staff barely apologetic blaming staffing issues. My partner and I have both worked In the service industry and waiting on 7 tables all of 2 guests bar a table of four does not require 2 staff especially if service is appalling as this. Other tables waited an inordinate amount of time for desert. Could have been amazing if not for poor service and lack of attention from chefs, know your menu!! Italian inspired is what is detailed on website, yet aside from the wine list, very little Italian influence, wasabi on starters leaves little to be desired. Simples changes, more attentive staff and providing what is described on the menu would make massive improvements.
