We have just spent the weekend at Golden valley. Absolutely incredible. Great staff, made to feel so welcome. Awesome facilities, showers are hot, powerful and everything is so clean. Didn't want to leave so made use of the bar and had a lovely thatchers gold before we left. Will be back soon. Found an absolute gem there.

£40 per night to be sited in what I can only described as a compound with no security, which wasn't attached to the main site. A serviced pitch with water, electricity but no drainage. The only facilities was a single portaloo. If you needed proper toilets, showers or elsan points it was a trip over a road, up a hill to the main site which was run by some very rude staff. Definitely won't be returning!!

Brilliant place, just about everything you need on a campsite. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Loads of stuff for the kids to do,loads of entertainment for them. Fishing ponds as well. Just could do with a small shop for the bare essentials, just to save going out to the shop in case you've forgot something like we did.Ha ha!

We researched this place before our visit. The site, on paper, looked amazing for our little family getaway. However, once we'd set up and settled down, we kept smelling weed. We left it for the first day, but continued to smell it the next day. There was a large group making no secret about smoking it, and didn't seem bothered about exposing their young children to it, nevermind other campers. I decided to approach the reception staff who at first seemed genuinely concerned about it, before going off to confront the weed smoking family. I asked to remain anonymous to prevent any repercussions. From that point onwards my family received continued verbal abuse from the drug takers. After the third day I approached the reception again (Mandy) and said we'd had enough, and that we'd be leaving before our arranged departure time. I asked if we could be refunded for the time we were not going to stay for. Mandy then abruptly said "f#*k this, I've had enough" and stormed over to the family again. We started to pack our kit up and began to leave. As we were driving out, I stopped at the reception to reiterate my point about the refund, but was told that we were not entitled to it as the pitch could not be sold to anyone else as we had booked it. Under normal circumstances I'd have understood, but due to the fact we were leaving because of an obvious misuse of drugs on site, coupled with intimidating behaviour from other campers I felt we should have been refunded as compensation for having our holiday ruined. As we turned to leave, another lady quickly said to us that if we kept our debit card to hand, we would be phoned later that day with a refund. After two days we'd heard nothing, so emailed asking where we stood. At first we were offered the same poor excuses why we shouldn't have a refund, but after reminding the person on the phone about the refund statement, we were finally told we could have the money back for our unspent time. Another two days later, and a partial refund came through that fell way short of what was owed.
I want to add at this point, that it transpires that the family had been asked to walk off site when smoking weed. I don't find this an acceptable solution, and believe the family should have been asked to leave. This suggests to me that the campsite does not have a zero drugs tolerance policy in place, despite it being advertised as a family friendly environment.
Although there were good points about the site, like the kiddies play parks, sandpits, ice cream trucks etc, the site itself was a little grubby with cigarette butts absolutely everywhere, staff smoking right outside the cafe entrance and groundskeepers moving around site in off road buggies at high speeds.
The toilet facilities were very clean, and smelt nicely of cleaning products all the time.
There is an on site gym, but had to pay £5 per person to use it. This is not mentioned anywhere in the guide, or online. The staff said to us that they hoped none of this would prevent us from visiting again, however we shall not be returning, and don't recommend young family should either.

Great place for kids with entertainment and plenty of play areas, pitches are unusual but work ok for groups with different needs. Food and drink are reasonably priced. Had a lovely weekend.

Fantastic site, loads of room and choice of pitch. Clean toilets and showers. Live entertainment on when we were there which was brilliant - not your normal camp site tat.
Highly recommend 👌
