Tim Little

I bought 2 pairs of Tim Little shoes a few years ago, and hardly ever worn them . I now live in Italy and recently decided to wear one on the pairs. I later discovered that my trousers and legs were covered with a black tar like substance.
It seems that the adhesive around the outer edges of the shoes had melted. On checking the other pair I found the same situation. I appreciate that the Italian summers can be quite hot, but surly this should be a consideration when selecting the adhesive ?
