Called in today to buy a cartridge for my printer. Walked around store looking for help but no one around but eventually found where they were being sold. Had to pick a card to take to store entrance where the tills are. Ok long queue long wait! Produced card to sales person who turned round to sort through a box. Guess what not in stock!! SO WHY HAVE THE CARD ON DISPLAY!!! Oh we always do that ........ really helpful - NOT. Apart from being illegal to advertise something you do not not stock the whole even was such a waste of my time. Shop again in WHSmiths - I think not. It used to be a good store but has gone down hill big time. End of rant!

Generally, it's nicely stocked and quite well presented, but the staff seem a little aloof and disinterested.

The self service tills are a little tight without much room to put the things that you intend to buy and staff aren't very good at picking up the baskets after customers, so baskets just get left lying around.

There is a wide selection of varied stock, gifts, snacks, craft supplies and office supplies available.

Good size store with lots of different bits and bobs over and above what you would normally expect from smiths. Great selection of books and art materials. Friendly and helpful staff.

I just had a bit of an annoying experience at this branch. Yesterday I presented my love2shop gift card to the staff member before we put anything through because I know they can be a serious pain but she said it was fine and they accept them. We followed all the instructions of how it should be put through, I knew what my balance was and all the items I was buying were permitted items for the card. She tried everything but could not get it to go through and eventually apologised and said I would have to come back the next day (a Saturday) when the manager would be in. So I did, explained my situation to the till staff and one of them fetched the manager. I was surprised when he arrived because unlike all the other staff he wasn't wearing a uniform or anything to show he was the manager, he was in a T-shirt and jeans. He immediately told me they didn't accept the cards, only the vouchers. Which I now realise is listed on the love2shop website, and even though I checked everything else I didn't realise the cards can be used at far less places than the vouchers, and Smith's is not on that far shorter list. This is my mistake. But I was told I could use it when I first presented it, so while paying for the items with cash instead I asked the manager if he could put out a bulletin reminding his staff to tell customers love2shop gift cards cannot be accepted. He got a bit surly at this, and generally seemed not to have much experience talking to customers which is odd for someone in a management role. I don't know why he had decided that wearing a uniform was only for his staff and not for himself, which also gives the impression he is above taking a turn on the till. I'm also not sure why the cashiers had been left without anyone in a management role to ask questions to when I went in yesterday. I feel bad for them, I've done many years in retail and I know you need supportive and competent management to get by in these jobs. The 3 stars are for the cashiers, they did great, also as a branch this is fine, stock is good etc.

This store is very spacious, very clean, bright and looks really good since the recent re-fit. Great range of Staty, cards, art and news products and a whole floor dedicated to books upstairs and the majority of staff are friendly/helpful. Issues that I do have is the store isn't well sign posted inside, so needed help by a member of staff to find what I needed and the confectionary in queuing system. Would recommend to shop here.

Went in to get some chocolate. Had a huge selection in the area while you queue with plenty and deals and offers. Had a large range of stationary too and as well as general office supplies such as paper and pads. Also had plenty of little gift ideas from gaming and digital vouchers to little rubbers and craft supplies.

inside of the door particularly at the back looks very dirty and items are missing form shelve or very scruffy looking, including a laminator on display covered in dust . lots of items missing tickets. manager in a blazer and turtle neck stood just chatting and laughing with other colleagues

James was a great help and a credit to the store. The manageress was very helpful. Very pleasant experience. Great staff and book selection.
