I went to the store and was having a problem deciding what would be a good wine to choose for a gift. The manager Oz was more than willing to help me with a recommendation and was polite and went above and beyond my expectations. Its rare to find employees that seem to care about their customers anymore and i'll definitely be returning. Oz and his team are a credit to the Sainsburys name!

Avoid City Road store! Rude staff. Very annoyed being told not to shout. I had only asked for assistance with the machine and no one came so I asked a little louder, he tried to belittle me in front of other customers. He then told to smile. He has no right to comment on my appearance. I wasn't rude to him until he told me to smile. The snarky suited male was then proud to tell me to complain and gave me his name. Very unprofessional. He has no right to speak to any customers like this I doubt he would have treated my husband in this manner!

Generally good but please be careful of their Meal Deal selection. For twice I was misled by the way items are placed - once I picked one yogurt & oats, which was among all other yogurts, then found out it is one of the Mains, so ended up paying £7 for a sandwich a sparkling water and this yogurt; and today, there is this chicken satay-ish thing in the snack section, with Meal Deal Snacks label beneath the shelf, then being told at the till that’s not a Snack for MD. I know I should have paid more attention but the way things are displayed is very very misleading and inconvenient. After twice I started thinking whether this is intentional.

I don’t usually give reviews to supermarkets, but this one is the one.
The champions of misplacing items, especially when it comes to the meal deal products.
‘Oh, this product is not in the meal, you probably took it from the other fridges.’
No I did not Karen, your stuff is just not competent to place the items properly.

Twice all card transactions have been down with cash only being available. This is not the fault of anyone working there, however the communication of it is bad with the manager/s leaving it to the staff to explain what is happening. Also if all the contactless and general card payments go down don't leave a massive queue of people just standing there and then say "oh, you can go to the cash point outside!" The manager should for 5 minutes get all hands on deck behind the counter to clear the queue whilst 1 person writes out in clear big writing that there is a card payment issue. Don't leave customers standing there when they need to get to work. Communicate better and don't leave it to the staff to get the flack. If you are the manager then manage!

Brilliant store, will definitely recommend to my friends and family

Unusually large for the area and a very Impressive store located opposite moorfieds eye hospital, much larger and better stocked than it's sibling store the other side of the old street roundabout, but it is probably well less visited than the smaller store because this is the Sargasso Sea of old street, an area of dead calm, the store is no short of being a scaled down version of the larger shops, always well stocked even through the shortages of past two years, the value is as you know and expect from Sainsbury's as is the comprehensive range of foods, this was one of those shops where there was a gate at the entrance and if you couldn't find what you want you had to pass sheepishly through the checkout area to leave, past the security guard who should be placed at the entrance not at the exit where you are already well observed, they have thankfully removed the gate and it is easy to hop into and do a shop, in short a great local supermarket and well worth visiting if you are in the old street area.

Twice now did Uber shop and twice the quality of fresh products picked by staff is outrageous, Mushrooms growing wit fir and steak discoloured but still sell by datevof 28/9 so left in warmth too long.
11/10 Again used store for local delivery via uber eats and this time frozen fresh pork cutlets dpacked and open aswell.
