Westgate Fish Bar

The service was slow, it took over 35 minutes . The chips were quite nice, the fish was decent but unfortunately it took far too long for the food to be cooked.

We now use this place regularly. We used to use another nearby chippy, but Westgate have much longer (and better) opening hours, and the food is better too. Service almost always comes with a smile. The chicken bites are amazing. Really good quality chips. We are impressed, and will keep using them.

First time ordering from here.
Initial thoughts when ordering from Just eat, slightly expensive considering what it is but went ahead and ordered
Large cod bites and chips.
Battered sausage
Battered saveloy (unbatteted was £0.69 more) very werid.
Curry sauce
A pickle

Overall pretty pleased. Chips on par with any other fish and chip shop in Canterbury, Cod bites were good, decent size and skin on.
Battered sausage below par. Not great. Disappointing. Batter was good, Sausage seemed cheap. The battered saveloy, Very weird, I found it strange it was cheaper for batteted but I definitely won't be having one battered again. Awful taste and texture. Very greasy. £1.30 for a pickle is mental but I really wanted one.

However the curry sauce was the best we've had from a fish and chip shop tasted like a real Indian curry sauce, it was amazing. It was enough to make us want to order again.

Conclusion, nice chips, cod is nice but way to overpriced. £10.99 for a large, that's restaurant prices hence the cod bites ordered. Will order again for the sauce but won't rush back. Plenty of cheaper options in Canterbury that are overall better.

Great service, great food ( we regularly have a large cod fish and a large fries that feeds a family of four : mum, dad and our three year old twins )

Always normally very good. Refused to honour their website deal unless ordered through it and said it was being updated as a excuse. Went in shop they used to serve fresh cod bites when ordering the deal for large chips and cod bites but now it is large chips and cheap small frozen cod bites from a bag like iceland. wont be ordering again. will stick to marinos who serve fresh always next door...

Absolutley disgusting 1hr half waited for delivery then it was nearly cold when got here and the chip were disgusting looked like they been cooke about 3 times and didnt taste fresh deffo.wont be using them again

Still waiting for our food two hours after ordering on a Tuesday night. Called the restaurant to be told “we don’t have a helicopter to find your house with” despite having ordered from here before AND leaving instructions to get to the house (which is on a residential road so this made zero sense). If the food does arrive it’ll be cold so what’s been the point? Can’t believe this. Never had this problem here before.
