Just what Hornchurch needs, and what Essex needs more of! A lovely, traditional looking tea shop, in a beautiful location. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Teas are presented in nice crockery, as is the food. Plenty of choice of cold drinks (and nice quality fruit based ones) as well as sodas and hot drinks. But the star of the show for me is the owners beautiful homemade cakes, with new bakes often added, so you can try all sorts of great desserts. Very nice freshly prepared sandwiches-always better then the pre-packaged ones many places serve up.

A further nice touch is the bags of food provided for feeding the ducks with, water for dogs, and colouring for the kids.

Its nice to have a place like this to sit down for something to eat and drink after a walk around Langtons park, but also more then worth travelling too!

Well done team on a great job!

Visited Liana's tea shop a good few times since they opened in August.
Alone or with company, in never seems to disappoint. Great selection of herbal teas, and scrumptious sandwiches, home made cakes.

Love their afternoon tea also. My 85 year old Nan & friend loved their surprise bday afternoon tea gathering. Nan is still talking about it. Taking her there for the Christmas afternoon tea.
Priceless quality time for us all.
It's a fab place overall.

Highly recommended.

Thanks LiAna & team.

Very, very good Tea Shop. Located next to a nice park with a lake for walks. The service was at a very high level, pleasant and refined. The food and tea are great.

Had my 60th birthday afternoon tea. My wife booked the place for us, family and friends. Couldn't be better. Food was great and the staff were first class. It made my birthday very memorable. Many thanks.

In response to owner:

You say now that you ran out of bread and that it was a busy day (before we arrived) which is fair enough, but there's a huge sainsburys over the road to you. Would a staff member not stock up on a few more loaves of bread as you're still open for another 2 hrs on a Saturday? The tea room was empty, we was the only ones there at this point. Had we of felt more of a warm atmosphere from you then I would have said something there and then but sorry, the reception we got from you was not a very welcoming one (especially when asking what ice creams/lollies you could offer for my children) I felt like we was a hindrance to you that day and that's not a nice feeling when you want to just take your dad out for a nice little lunch at a special location to us.

My goodness, I sincerely can't understand the 5* reviews mottled against 1* reviews. Under the circumstances, Liana's appears to be VERY hit and miss.

Just LOOK at the photos, they speak for themselves.

I didn't experience any negative customer services. This review is purely based on the quality of the food. Both the chocolate cake and the bread and butter pudding were disgusting and inedible. Either 5* reviews experienced something I didn't or they're not accustomed to quality food.

The chocolate cake had a taste distinctive of using too much baking powder, or not having cooked it properly and was surprisingly bitter. The bread and butter thing was also somehow bitter - in case you think it's my personal taste - this happens to be both myself and my partner. Both cases we didn't bother taking a few bites (thinking perhaps another region of the slice might have had better taste) before discarding the lot.

Also given that they're very well prepared in these Covid times, it's strange that they've invested very little in packaging up the items for consumption in the park. Really, bagging up a pudding? The cake being presented in a burger box? Invest some of the costs in better packaging. And shouldn't the pudding be served warm or hot?

I'm all for supporting local business but local business should support local community and this requires a lot more work!

The only redeeming feature of what we bought on the day, was the hot chocolate which was ok and the fact that they gave enough forks, but that in itself is not worth a star rating or the £7 I paid.

Oh, and they happily accept cash but can't accept any returns of bottled items they'd just handed to you. What a joke.

Edit: I've revised my review score, as I wasn't aware of the difference between bread pudding and bread and butter pudding, and after the owners replied below (unapologetically). But I will add, according to online consensus - bread pudding shouldn't be left outside for more than 2 hours after baking (which I **imagine** implies it should be hot or warm or lukewarm and not cold unless it's refrigerated and therefore not freshly made .. maybe I'm being picky and people like that stuff as presented - my pictures are unedited so you decide - different strokes.)

I will also say that I didn't come back to request a refund as I sincerely felt that a business that refuses to accept the EXCHANGE of a bottled drink 5 seconds after I'd touched it and which can be cleaned/wiped clean, but happily accepts and handles cash payments that have been sat in people's pockets and handled by countless others in all denominations would have equally not been happy to refund or exchange food items a customer thought was inedible. I'm glad that the response below shows that customers can return items for a refund or exchange if they're not happy with them and maybe the owners could publicise that at the door when customers are making a purchase. It certainly isn't clear.
