Earls Court Police Box

What a nice surprise to find the TARDIS right in front Earl’s Court Station. I literally screamed when I saw it. I couldn’t figure out if it really was bigger on the inside, but I had a nice fangirl moment pretending the Doctor was out there somewhere trying to save the day.

I walked out of the tube station and found myself an abandoned Tardis. Great picture opportunity for a Dr. Who fan if you're already in the area.

Our hotel was near here and I did wonder whether it was a legacy police box left over from the 1960s, or a Doctor Who-inspired reproduction. Turns out it's neither: it's the sole remnant of a failed experiment in reviving the classic police box in the 1990s. It is no longer a functioning police box, just a thing to see, but the police do keep it painted.

Opened in 1996, police box is based on the Mackenzie Trench design familiar to Londoners during the 1960s. It was equipped with CCTV cameras and a telephone to contact the police.

So surreal, after seeing the TARDIS for so many years, on the television, to finally seeing one IRL. Thank you again to the American couple who lent us a sonic screwdriver for other pics. (Apr/May 2019)

Not every day you get to see a Tardis Police Box so it is worth seeing.
The location is right outside the tube station.
Sadly you can't go inside it.
