Stopped off at the railway cafe at Fairbourne for refreshments. Polite staff, a souvenir shop and a model railway on the premises which you can view. The train journey (I didn't use this service but if I remember rightly), is about 7 miles. An impressive little steam engine (see pics) located in a traditional little village.

Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely little railway and a great team of people who are keen to keep this little gem going. Good connection to the Barmouth ferry. Ferry limited to 6 people but is frequent to come back across to pick up again. Check operating time's railway staff are very helpful in this way don't be put off not to ask.

Brilliant narrow gauge railway, I remember going on this when I was a kid in the 60s, fairbourne hasn't really changed a lot since those days . Great day out for kids, buy a ticket & travel all day on the railway, nice cafe at the end of the line. Lovely sandy beaches. Kids travel for £1 with an adult ticket.

This railway is what started it all for me when I saw it on an old VHS tape years ago. I then had countless visits to it on holidays when I was younger and it just blew me away.

About 10 years ago this month, I had my very first driver experience course on this very railway, which was hands down a dream come true.

Fast forward to a visit today, and it still holds a special place in my heart. Wet and windy, but I didn't even care! Weather wasn't going to ruin nostalgia for me!

Russell and Sherpa (the loco I had my experience on) making effortless journeys through the light showers. A tear was shed when I got a cab ride on Russell...

The railway as a whole is beautiful in all weathers, the staff are seriously the friendliest, and the overall journey experience is second to none. Seriously recommend it for any family/enthusiast/everyone.

Favourite narrow gauge railway, period. 5 all day.

What a super inexpensive family day out. Glorious sunshine and just gorgeous travelling along the track from Fairbourne Ferry across to Barmouth is a bit pricey at £2.50 per person inc children each way. We didn't bother and had a lovely time on the beach and ice creams at the railway café . Back at Fairbourne don't miss the super model railway. All inc in the price

Great little train. If you gift aid you can visit free for a year! Friendly staff. Nice little cafe. Interesting small museum on site giving history of the fairbourne railway that began as a horse drawn tram! Well maintained public toilets nearby. Recommend
