One of a few stations on the old Great Central Line, Rothley offers an opportunity to step back to the time of Steam, and enjoy the history that envelopes you. I visit with my camera now and again to try and capture some of that historical atmosphere.

Lovely small heritage GCR station with a pre grouping theme. There is a period goods centre, lamp room and cafe on site. Across car park is another cafe.

This is only a relatively small intermediate station upon the Great Central Railway and yet it is full of charm and character. Authenticity is a hallmark of the stations upon this heritage line and this stop is "just right". There is nothing added which is inappropriate or "over the top". There is lots of free parking very close by in the old station yard.

Pleasantly busy. Enjoyable views of the trains going past.

Beautiful little station still in the early 20th century. Gas lights, original looking fixtures and fittings - worth a stop off on the Grand Central line.

Another well kept station on the Great Central Railway. Small tea room available on site. This is where the GCR reduces to single track on its route to Leicester North.

Lovely and peaceful country station in rural Leicestershire. Great cafe with the benefit of occasional passing trains. Well worth a visit.
