Bought my bike 3 years ago there, really cool vintage Peugeot and it's still perfect today with no repairs. Everyone in there is very friendly and we have a good chat when I go in to use their track pump

Lack of knowledge from staff, terrible stock too! Felt like I was educating the staff myself, also the prices they charge for some of their bikes is a disgrace ,very overpriced. I'l stick to servicing my own bike from now on .

9 times out of 10 this is a fantastic place to take your bike for repairs.!more below!

I've used here a few times and usually staff are friendly and okay to talk to
Today I took my bike in for my cassette to be replaced and chain and gears tuned,
Fair enough when I went back to get my bike not too long after maybe a few hours nothing really as by other stores been told would take days 🤔,, too be told not all my gears work still 🤔 this was disappointing
As new gear cable and other parts were all new as I was told to get. But this ASIDE, AS THEY WERE HONEST ABOUT THE ISSUE AT HAND, I need more parts and hopefully then my noble steed will be spot on again!
My real issue I didn't see till I got home and inspected my bike, as pics below show
My bike wasn't handled with alot of care,
No rag around frame before mounting causing marks on my frame (fair enough took 2 mins to clean) but honestly hope next time I go in its a better experience then today.

Honestly this place is GREAT most of the time, as for the full 5 star rating as they are spot on and honest genuine bike guys.

But a little care with someone's pride and joy wouldn't go a miss.

BUT NO DAMAGE OR PERMANENT MARKS CAUSED!

**THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUICK AND EFFICIENT SERVICE***

**I STILL RECOMMEND THESE TO ANYONE TO HELP YOU WITH ANY BIKE REALATED ISSUES**

As for the store its really nice set out
Wheels dotted about for decoration, loads of GOOD bikes for sale at REASONABLE PRICES,.

Maybe a few older bikes over priced but not as badly priced other reviews state!.

(people don't want to take there hand out of there pocket)
These bikes have good branded parts!
Serviced! Also these guys in store use there man house to rebuild these bikes to a good standard!

NO scrap other then the half a bike in the window 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

Recyke Y'Bike very helpful over phone and in the shop. Run by owner and volunteers who love bicycles, mending them and helping you find a bargain. Half priced bikes, fully serviced, three months guarantee except for punctures. They offered to set aside a bike I could test ride around Durham until it stopped raining. I did it in the sunshine, enjoyed trying it out and I then bought it. Very fair minded people and I am pleased with my purchase. Thanks. Would go there again.

Went in to get my tyre replaced as it was flat. I was quoted £10 to change the tyre which seemed reasonable. I also enquired about getting my bike serviced- brakes and gears sorted- which quickly became very expensive. I asked for just the brake pads and tyre to be changed for which I was quoted £55 altogether, which, given that the pads will cost at most £20 for a set, I found very unreasonable. I felt pressured into the sale and into leaving my bike at the shop. I then changed my mind and called to just ask for the tyre to be changed. When I returned, the salesman made some snide comment about dying because I hadn't changed my brakes and I found this very unpleasant. The tyre appears to be fine, but I will be servicing my bike myself in future.

Love the ethos of this place. Were able to see my bike 11 days earlier than Halfords and actually sorted it the same day I took it in!

Recyke is a charity. Among other things they take in old bikes to stop them going to landfill, give bikes away to people in need in the North East and others to Africa and encourage more people to cycle. Ok, I volunteer there so I'm a bit biased but it's great. The mechanics are well trained, knowledgeable, experienced and above all honest. They're good at fixing bikes, doing up old ones to sell and obviously recycling. What's not to like?? And yes, you can donate your old bike there, in any condition.
