Practical Car & Van Rental

Charles was excellent. Supplied me with a Luton Tail Lift at short notice on a Saturday. The price, though a little higher than the one quoted on the website due to the last minute nature of the booking, was still very fair. There was no messing around with a deposit and the van was delivered to my door promptly and with no problems. I was allowed to keep the van right up until midnight that day if I needed as I could drop it back out of hours, which certainly helped to take the edge off what was already a bit of a stressful day. It's rare to find a van rental company so accommodating, especially over the weekend. If you're looking for van hire in the area, then I doubt you'll do any better!

So I was able to go on to the website and book a van for pickup at 1100 lasting 24 hours. Payment is taken etc, I then get a call telling me that I can not have the van until 1300 and it has to be back by 0900 the next morning. No idea what 24hrs means to them but for me 1100-0900 is not 24 hrs. Two hours later when I am on my way to pick up the van I get a voicemail telling me they have cancelled the hire. I will never use this company and would not recommend them to anyone. Local person wanted to use local hire to keep the cash in the community.

Charles is a consummate gentleman. He was so communicative from our initial rental enquiry to returning the vehicle. He offers a free drop-off service which we took advantage of and he delivered our van on a Saturday morning, and the return process was very easy, too. The van was in great nick and the interior very clean (a key factor in the current climate). I would recommend his service to anyone and will definitely be booking with him next time I need to rent a car or van.

Great service from Charles. A new van, in excellent condition and I really appreciated it being dropped to my door. I was charged 60% above the market rate to get the last rental van in the Kingston area this weekend so next time I'll book ahead.

Brilliant service! Having been let down by another van hire company on the Friday afternoon before a Sunday move, I was desperately calling/googling for alternatives but no-one was open for an 'out of hours' hire at such short notice. I stumbled across Practical at around 5.30pm and the phone was picked up after 2 rings by Charles who immediately put my mind at ease - not only did he have a van available for Sunday but he would also drop it off in person in the morning at our address. Come the day he was bang on time and after a quick, no-nonsense registration process we had the very new van ready for use. Fantastic hire experience which I had no idea existed. I have already recommended Charles to others and wouldn't;t go anywhere else from now on.

Appalling customer service from this branch. Advisor who I dealt with became aggressive when I declined the price as it was not competitive. Really not acceptable I shall not be enquiring ever again. People shop around for the best price do not get offended if customers go elsewhere for a better price. The advisors attitude was disgraceful.Beware!

I couldn't recommend Charles and practical new Malden highly enough.

I have used Charles a couple of times now as i needed a van for work as mine was in for repairs. Twice i have had a van deliver in a couple of hours.

Charles is a gentleman and offers a excellent service delivery collection and both times extended the loan of the van for considerably longer then expected.

Don't waste your time with the other big company's in Kingston as they will take a payment online and they will call you at the last minute to refund you within 14 days because they don't have the stock.

Tried to book a van for a move and was keen to support a local business. The website quoted a price of £150.00 for anywhere in the UK, however when I was contacted I was quoted double, and told it wasn’t a good booking because of the distance. Reason given for this was that it is a franchise and the prices on the website are not accurate. Found this a bit strange. Have used several times in the past but never again.
