Pleasantly shabby old-school country pub. Brews own beer but was out when we were there, however they had a beer festival on with an interesting selection. The menu of pub standards (scampi and chips, burger etc) didn't promise much but the ploughman's came with excellent bread and a perfect, freshly made scotch egg; friend reports her burger was superb. Class act and a great choice if walking to the nearby Moore Sculpture park.

Typical British pub. Ideal for walkers and strollers groups. The food was excellent, large portions and great value for money. We went to the pub ordered our food then went for a circular walk as as strollers group. They were ready for us when we got back so the food was served promptly. Sat outside to eat in the warm weather.

arrived just after 12 , had a beer and food , good quality basic , just how I like Pub food. Went for a 5 mile walk down into the Ash Valley and back around the edge of the Henry Moore foundation , had 2 more pints and cycled home. Lovely day out, I will return. On Thursday night 24/01/19 I arrived after work for my usual pint. The landlord and a regular started singing "Jerusalem" ... that doesnt happen very often , great pub :-)
Went for a few beers and lunch on my birthday with my best friend , food was great and Hayley called us "boys" which is good when you are 60 :-)

Fantastic pub with great atmosphere and roast dinner once a month.
Traditional style English pub in a country location.
Coffee and breakfast now available in the morning.
Regular beer festivals.
Well worth a visit.

I've been to the Prince Of Wales a lot of times over the past number of years. I went today and I was struck how unwelcoming the bar maid was. When you couple this with the same bitter being served for the past few years (Moonshine, Wadworth), I doubt I will back. This isn't to say those beers are bad (the Abbeydale Moonshine is very good), but when you compare what is on offer at the Queens Head in the next village (Allen's Green) and the warm welcome you get there I can't see why you'd go to this pub.

Great pub to relax with friends. The Yorkshire IPA Moonshine is absolutely amazing. Wish I could get it where I live in North Devon. Good outside seating area.

Great country pub with very friendly locals and staff. Some good ales and very cosy. Don't find many pubs like this anymore. Outside seating on a quiet road in the middle of the country side.

A gem of a country pub in East Herts. Great for walkers and cyclists, and handy for the nearby Henry Moore sculpture park. Always a couple of well kept real ales and friendly service.
