A very nice Wetherspoons close to Bolsover castle. Pleasant service and good food. Internet can be hit and miss. Parking on site for the castle. Not sure if parking allowed for restaurant users Better than the two in Chesterfield (in my opinion)

Very good Wetherspoon pub. Good quality real ale, nice smart decor, tidy toilets. Best pub in Bolsover (not much praise admittedly as the rest of the pubs and there's not many, are dire). Please note the Pillar of Rock is in Bolsover, Google's location places it in Chesterfield ! (two other Wetherspoons there).

Major problems are mobile reception, so you struggle to order via the Wetherspoons app.

Could not fault the meals and value of this place, whats lets it down so badly is the attitude you receive off staff. Appauling from the start. Our order was getting all mixed up, being served our mains before starters, when asked the server why mains before starter it instantly kicked started an attitude fit for a Child. Brought starters and might as well have thrown them on the table as well as throwing cutlery across table. Walked away with a huff stating we had to come find her when wanted mains. When asked another staff member for our mains she also gave a snotty attitude for doing this, stopping on her way to have a good chat with the first server clearly about us as could not stop staring at us during their chat. I simply let this go as these girls clearly looked like they had no interest in being here. What tops it off is when serving others to glare at us every time walked past. Staff need some serious shaking up on how to be a professional not ignorant and rude. Be along time till return. Maybe when staff have manners.

Our local 'Spoon is right next to the gorgeous Stuart-era Bolsover Castle and has reliably tasty food. The beers could be better and they often run out of ketchup but the staff is good, the bathrooms better than most, and the pizzas and desserts are incredible. Very good curry club, too.

Nice bit of fish,and chips, The place wasn't too busy for a Sunday afternoon. Would recommend eating here rather than at cafe in castle, castle cafe a bit too expensive.

The usual good value selection of food and drink. This place is ideal for lunch after a morning visit to Bolsover Castle. Small free car park by the pub intended for people visiting the Castle. Outdoor seating at the front and side of this place.

We came here for lunch this afternoon and it was a bad experience all round.
First, we couldn’t find a table as all of the empty tables were dirty and still needed clearing. When we asked politely if the table could be cleared, the staff member “Jo” greeted us with an attitude and said “can you not see we’re already doing it.” (the table wasn’t being cleared) after waiting for a few minutes it still hadn’t been cleared so we had to do it ourselves! During our couple of hours here we saw her give multiple dirty looks and talk about other customers to staff members!
The woman who served our drinks was equally as rude, she might as well have thrown the drinks on the table. She didn’t acknowledge us or tell us which drinks were which!
Our meals came about 5 minutes apart, my steak was very fatty and was mainly fat. It definitely wasn’t sirloin and my friends food has made her ill! She ordered some fruit for her little girl which they allowed to be ordered and paid for for a waitress to then tell us that they didn’t have any fruit despite her having already paid for it.
Overall, this experience was very shoddy which is a shame because we use this place a lot but won’t be going here again! The staff need to have training on how to speak to customers and be pleasant.
