An accidental outing after a missed bus, that turned into a surprisingly good dinner at a cozy country pub.
The soufflé was far better than some 'high-end' chains (Looking at you, Raymond Blanc), and the crab was super fresh. We both had fish and chips, which was delicious (maybe a bit oily and batter heavy, but very tasty). The chips were chunky and very nicely cooked. All the portions were healthily sized (don't let the pictures fool you, the chips are huge). The coleslaw was creamy, crunchy and fresh.
The pub seemed a bit short staffed and weren't the most attentive (it was quite busy on a weeknight), but the food arrived quickly.

Fantastic 'pub-lunch'. Burgers were delicious as were options for gluten-intolerant friends with us. If you are a Midsomer Murders fan, you'll know this pub and a visit should definitely be on the cards!

I had the best seat in the house, in front or the fire place. Hubby had the second best at the bar having a pint with/for the Queen.

Called in to check out this super traditional thatched country pub now its under a new manager. Wonderful Sunday roast dinner was served in warm hospitable surroundings. Beer was good too.

Brilliant pub. Very welcoming to dogs and children. Friendly staff, really good food and well kept beer. Added bonus for parents: there’s a great playground just at the other end of the beautiful village green.

Lunch today was great. Had a lovely welcome from The new landlord and landlady Gary and Sam at the 6 Bells . Service and food was quick and delicious. Will call again soon.

Lovely real fire, good hot pot of tea (isn't that what everyone goes to the pub for?) and friendly welcome. Chips were good too!
